PTCL Broadband speed doubled

I just noticed my ptcl dsl speed is doubled..from 1MB to 2MB automatically.... YEY

speedtest is showing 1.8 Mbps of speed on 1MB connection and the Line Rate on the modem status page for Downstream (Kbps):2047

Can someone confirm is it legitimate change from PTCL?

which package u r using, and see if ur getting more than 200KBPS on downloading...

i'm getting 195 Kbs on download

and i was using 1Mb connection since it's launch

It would've been better if they'd provided permanent reliable service without the regular few days hiccups every couple of months rather than doubling the speed.

im using students package 1mb

its giving me around 120 kbps (utorrent) and around 135-140 kbps on google chrome !! its the same

hmmm when was the last time you checked the speed? because last year in march they did double all the connections. if you were had applied for 1 mb before march 2009 then ur speed will be 2 mb now

well 2mb n 4mb package r being offered at commercial rates
student package is only available on 1mb
n it isnt doubled
its just a rumour

@madhouse12 actually i was updating the firmware of my router last week at that time i saw the speed and it was doubled...and secondly I'm using ptcl broadband since its launch..originally I started frm 256 kbps then the package was upgraded to 512 kbps, and as you all know 512 kpbs was upgraded to 1mbps last year...n now i presume it is updated to 2 mbps or whatever..I remember when first i got dsl connection, Ptcl was giving volume based packages (like 2GB a month, and unlimited use for first 3 months) at that time my 256Kbps connection was configured at 2 mbps...and I was amazed by the ptcl speed and performance and after first 3 months my connection was re-configured at original speed of 256 kpbs

anyways I'm enjoying it much these days because my internet use is quite high as of average ptcl user because of my work and stuff!! Thankfully I never got any issues with PTCL DSL..its been more than 3 years now...

I also heard that before upgrading the packages to all users ptcl upgrades packages of few customers on random and use basis to test feasibility (it might not be true), if it is the case then i believe the upgrade will be given to all users sooner or later...

Speed can be doubled but the pathetic service cannot be refined.
