After having gone through all the posts, here's what I'd like to add:
Suggestions for the layout
I'd like it if there was an option to subscribe to the thread while posting a quick reply on the main page of the thread (maybe a check box option or a button saying 'post reply and subscribe') - it would make it much more convenient (also the quick reply button and post reply buttons are kind of repeated redundantly because they are present twice on the page). And also if the subscribe/unsubscribe button could be placed at the bottom of the thread page next to the Post Reply option.
Quality vs Quantity Issue
With the amount of traffic, members and enthusiasts increasing in the country coupled with awareness and internet spread - quantity is something that can't be controlled. But I am positive that with quantity comes quality (maybe not proportionately but it does) for instance you have a lot more young people getting inspired, restoring vehicles, attempting difficult swaps, adding from their education in mechanical/engineering fields or experience and so on. So yes PW has got something for everyone through more contributors then just the ones previously could be counted on fingertips, which is a good thing. So I wouldn't worry about it, its a self filtering process of sorts.
The moderators Issue
I understand that moderating is a difficult job and really appreciate the voluntary service and the amount of hours of sheer hard work these guys log - like VCheng said, its not as much a pleasure as it seems.
And I was always very pro-mods even after what was said about them being biased. Until recently, when I stumbled across a thread with videos of 1000 hp Supras doing fly-bys, where speed junkies were drooling over it.. and I just said this is a recipe for disaster. Now I refrained from saying a WORD on the Majid Supra incident in all those other discussions cause i knew it was just an accident. But this I was just sharing my views on.. and I get told by the thread owner that you need balls to speed this way.. Seriously? Are we 18 years old here.. We live in a country where people blow themselves up every day, why would you think speeding a car requires balls? Its endangering other people's lives that is not right. And I had to quote the life of the kid who got killed in the Supra accident to support my point - for which i was thrashed by a MOD and told to keep the BS out of this thread.. I mean I really didn't have words at that time and I did lose respect.
Now I try to be as unbiased as I can, and very much a speed junkie and Supra lover myself. But this behaviour really upset me because all i did was make a sane suggestion/comment. Hope this can be looked into.
Infractions
I often look at 'Similar Threads' that appear at the end of the thread page, and once i stumbled across a related thread which was old - and I posted there for which I got an infraction 'stop digging old threads' - if you don't want me to dig them, why are they visible in the Similar Threads? delete them, or set a criteria that wont make them appear there. I didn't raise a complain about this earlier, but i felt this is the right place to voice it.
PW being at the Maturity stage and heading to a decline
I'm a business graduate too - and I would differ here. Actually this is applicable to typical goods and services. PW is very unique in its own rite. And I also appreciate the efforts PW admin and mods make in order to try and keep the site being updated with new changes every now and then. I don't think its something that should be worried about. Since PW is the most widely known online platform for buying and selling of cars in the country, linked with its forums in such a way that a lot of information about the goods and services bought and sold is exchanged - additionally there is tons of free education for anyone who wants to grab it. Personally when searching the internet for specific issues, I've found PW to be the most comprehensive source of useful information at hand, especially (but not just) car related.
Thank you. I wish PW all the best.
