Questions regarding Mercedes c and e class

Im interested in buying a c200 or e 200 and had a few questions from you car fans.

First, what are the official prices in Pakistan for new zero meter from dealership? I've seen various prices on them and even the dealerships don't seem to give you accurate price until you are totally ready to buy something. For both, what's a average price for a 2010 model drive 10-15k if I wanted to go the used route.

Secondly, what will maintenance typically be like fr these cars, taking into consideration the toll Pakistani roads take on a car. Maybe an average annual approximation.

Lastly, what are insurance rates like? Should I be budgeting 3-4% an yr in insurance?

Just to clarify a bit personally I prefer a new car, but popular wisdom seems to be to get a used one. Which I'm willing to do if the saving is worth it and if I can find something with very very low mileage like I mentioned. Also if I'm not getting a new one, then are there any used 2011's for sale generally slightly driven? That way I get the new c class slightly changed shape for 2011. There are also a lot of internal changes I hear.

Any other issues I should know about or take into consideration? Suggestions appreciated.

a few months ago, sum relative of mine was looking for a brand new car. Merc E250 was for 10.8m at that time.Audi A5 for 11.4m and bmw 3 series for around 10.4m... though huge discounts,sometimes a million or may be two, are offered to some customers... not all though...

Brand new car (Shahnawaz) got 3 years Warranty. So most of problems will be covered by them. Other than maintenance, it depends how you drive. I hope you won't be travelling whole Pakistan on your Mercedes :P. Islamabad roads are perfect motorway is perfect where further you want to take these beauties?

cross check the prices in morning. I seriously doubt these figures for 2012 C & E class. - 1 US$ = PKRs 91.05 interbank for imports as of 13 01 2012

So you bought the car from Mercedes Germany yourself, I presume by going there, and then had shanawaz import it for you, dealing with customs shipping etc? Because that might be the easiest for me. Only issue is that Germany is lhd. Is your rhd? Would shanawaz also be ale to give me somewhat accurate approximations on customs? And did you compare prices between Germany and uk? I thought Germany would be cheaper but I was looking at prices and for all base models it seems prices are cheaper in uk for some very odd reason.

Lastly, what about importing from uk incse I am not willing to drive a lhd?

I am willing to pay shanawaz if they can give me accurate info, warranty, and do all the importation customs releases etc.

Would love some more details since I'm also looking for 2011/2012 aswell so I can just follow same procedure you did. But I'm just wondering how you were able to do it for that price, unless you're stating that's only the customs cost, since the s350 L base price is around 65k Gbp. And I'd expect customs duties to be at least as much.

Yeah that's about the prices I've seen in market. Any benefit you think of importing myself or am I just better off buying it in the market? I thought foreign resident moving to Pakistan get one tax exemptions but from what I've seen that's not true it the same duty structure.

So the minimum insurance is insurance per year?

Shanawaz also sells used cars, do they have warranty and are they merc certified similar to foreign dealerships or are they just Ued cars they are selling with no warranties.

I'm liking the new audis but there's nothing like driving a merc. Driving an s550 is like gliding above the road with no friction it's ridiculously smooth, and the 7 series and Audi don't come close to that level of comfort.

No I did not went to Germany nor i visited anywhere else. I made the color selection and asked someone to source from bargain outlet get it for me exported. completing the paperwork payment & passport stuff etc etc. -

when you are buying a car for export prices are different globally.

Audi is best only from rent-a-car.

A-4 1.8 T 2010 black color with 21000Km broken down and did a complete swap gear box from dubai 95000 ( audi asked for 325000 ) car sold immediately after swap. guy is driving C 180 kompressor 2009 from UK

truly if you need a brand new with warranty and wish less hassle goto shahawaz do some corporate bargain to avoid any headache.

• so you when you say you asked someone else, do you mean someone in germany (a friend maybe), or a local bargain? or do you mean a person at shahnawaz? I just want to clarify since you said you imported through shahnawaz, so i'm wondering if they also did all the buying for you after you selected colour, or if they just did the customs, and another dealer/broker did the purchasing from germany and actual shipping etc.

could you please share the contact info of this company/person if they do this for a living, since i'd love to talk to them and use their services.

• warranty - how come shahnawaz gave you warranty? linking back to the first point, is this because shahnawaz did the importation customs etc? And did you purchase the car slightly used from mercedes germany official dealership and got the mercedes certified car? maybe thats why they gave you warranty?

it sounds to me your merc was purchased slightly used, just wondering how you got shahnawaz to give you warranty or how the factory instructed them to give you warranty.

• How many cc is the c350 engine? Can you please clarify how much your total customs came down to as % of price? was it 100% of the price paid?

you said it cost you 7.5m total, i just want to clarify since that seems very very cheap for a 2011 s350 only driven a few thousand km's and inclusive of purchase price plus customs.

• Also can you please clarify if its RHD or LHD.

If you can please address my points i would really appreciate it man, i am having trouble getting accurate info and you seem to be the only person here who has done the importation similar to what i want to do.

And if you could share the contact of people that do this that would be great too.

So I just found out something very odd. Merc Germany and uk both say if I gbuy a car from them I can't export it. Anybody know about this? I spoke with quite a few of the dealerships all said the same thing. Cn they actually stop the export or are they just bluffing because the Pakistan dealerships complain.
