I had been smoking for the last 10 years, one pack each day. Started from Marlboro lights and then 6 years later switched to dunhill.
Every night I slept I could hear my lungs and heart screaming. From occasional pain in the lungs to the heart (All you smokers know what im talking about). At times in my sleep i thought i wasn't going to wake up as I had been smoking for so long that it was time to suffer the consequences. I would have disturbed sleeping pattern. Couldn't get a peaceful sleep. Would get irritated and have headaches.
I had tried quitting before and it worked for a year or two but as something went downhill in life, i would come back to smoking as it was more of a friend in need. As we face challenges in life we always fall back to smoking.
So anyway cutting short, a week back I said NO MORE SMOKING and entirely stopped smoking. COLD TURKEY!
The cravings were intense, my body was screaming for nicotine but i put up with it. I kept lying in bed for 2 days trying to just sleep off the cravings because the first 72 hours are very important. Anyway fast forward 3 days later I started noticing my senses and nerves return to normal. I started to smell and recognize things (something i never knew while i smoked), i started feeling hungry and would eat a lot, I had a peaceful sleep without waking up in the middle. My anxiety was put down to almost 0.
There is actually a timeline on how quitting smoking helps your body and makes you regain these senses. Anyone thinking of quitting do it now because i can tell you, you will feel young again! You'll be healthy, you wont die young and moreover you'll get to live a meaningful life!
