Radiator drinking up the water as a camel

my Khyber 97 is reducing water on daily basis, it was always full with coolant even the reservoir was filled with coolant, but suddenly one day the temperature rose well above normal, wen i checked i found there was nothing in reservoir and the radiator was half empty, i m not sure about any leaks but these days if i drive my car at avg of 50 km daily next morning i have to fill around a liter or half of water in it to keep it full and cool .. i didn't put any coolant after the heating scene because i thought there must have been a leakage in radiator, but i am not able to find any leakage .. inside, the heat gauge remains between 10 % to a maximum of 30% with a/c on in afternoon .. but after that i have to fill it with more then a liter of water ... is the gauge wrong and car is heating too much that the water boils and evaporates out . ?????? or i don't know please help fellow brothers ...

most probably the head gasket is bad or the waterpump maybe leaking slowly that you cant see the leak. My mercedes here in US had a leak on the waterpump pulley side, and it never showed up leaking because the pulley used to spin the coolant droplets outwards, When I replaced the pump I noticed rays of rusty coolant lines on the pulley inner face.

you should change the lid of the radiator, buy a new one but make sure the new one should be Japanese. I had the same problem in my Alto and by changing the lid of radiator all the issue got resolved instantly.

another thing keep on using coolant it is very good for the car i am 100% sure that your issue will resolve by changing the lid.

It mostly happens when the head gas kit gives away... but before going 4 such a replacement u shud try things mentioned above, check for leaks, check the radiator cap. However when a vehicle is drinking up so much water always the head gas kit comes out 2 be the culprit. As a matter of safety u shud carry 2-3 Litters of water with u in ur car now as its reducing water. Temperature shooting up is no good. Refill ur radiator at regular intervals. Make sure u dont open it up when the cars hot...
These are summers and an over heated car wud throw up hot water and gases even if u open the cap up after 1hr or so of resting...!
So take care.. B4 refilling cool the radiator by pouring some water on it, then with the help of a cloth open the cap up slowly, be v.v.carefull for the high pressure that must be built inside.. And refill ur car.

Recently have gone thru all this and its a pain in the A$s!! But after GAs kit and engine head's work + alot of Bucks spending my cars doing well now... no reducing water.

do a headgas kit check, fill up the raditor take of the lid and then acceleration to the car (dont forget to put in neutral). if the water pops out then surely its the gaskit issue... in case if it is normal then just go and get a good raditor cap and experience if there is a difference or not. hope this will solve your problem.

try following..

check all the hoses for cracks..once coolant is pressurized it seeps out of these cracks and immediately evaporates being hot...

radiator cap may be rusty and its not sucking the water back from the reservoir ..

go to some good mechanic and get your cars radiator flushed.. probably the rust has accumulated in its tubes and circulation of water is not proper..

check speed of radiator fan.. get it increased

faulty thermostat valve can also lead to these problems..

finally its the gas kit.. if its not the gas kit then its the radiator itself.. if situation arises that radiator requires to be changed .. then get it replaced with the one having double tubes..

my car got heated up.. blew the gas kit.. got it replaced.. problem persisted.. finally the culprit was radiator .. its tubes were blocked.. rusted.. due to improper cooling car got heated up and lost its gas kit.. so be advised that radiator is all right before changing the gas kit..

it is simple, go to the good mechanic to get the radiator checked and most probably it seems the radiator problem.

Dude had the same problem with my cultus.
And it was shot down by Naseer autos.
The "Water Body" as they call it was leaking when the engine was in operation and due to engine heat all the water get evaporated. but the stain of rust and whiteness ( dun know wht that was ) was there. I got that fixed and mashaaALLAh the car is now fine. Please check your waterbody.

The leak is so small most of the time (not more than a pin hole) that its not possible to see and as pointed before by someone, due to high engine temperature, the leaked water quickly evaporates. Take to any good mechanic and tell them that water is reducing drastically. He will quickly open up the engine while its still very hot (caution: stand back when he is doing so) and most probably will spot the leak.
I had a problem with my car (city 2001) that it lost plenty of water in just 15-20 mins of driving. Took to a normal mechanic who spotted a teeny tiny hole on one of the rubber pipes (the one that takes water to the car heater). Replaced the pipe, its good since then mashAllah se.

pretty risky business, The correct and cheap way is to make a radiator cap with an air fitting and a bicycle pump to pressurize the system, the leak will show itself..

Basically radiator cap consists of a valve which opens up at high pressure inside the radiator to allow water to move inside the radiator from the reservoir. In my case, this valve was faulty. Replaced it and the water level inside the radiator never decreased.
But now I have noticed that the water level decreases by half of the reservoir after 4-5 days and i have to re-fill it. Any suggestions as to what it can be? Many mechanics have suggested that this is normal in such a temperature. Do note that the car never over-heats.
As someone here suggested to open the cap of the radiator, top it up, start the car and floor the throttle and c if the water bubbles out of the radiator. I have done it and here is wht i hav observed: When i floor the throttle, the level of water decreases in the radiator and comes back to normal when the throttle is released. The water does not shoots out of it. Analysis?

i have had a similar problem with my dubo(nick) FX 85...
FIRST TRY TO REPLACE RADIATOR CAP WITH SOME GUD JAPANEESE CAP...LIKE SAKKI BRAND ETC...HOPEULLY IT WILL WORK!!
IF NOT SO, THEN THE NECK OF RADIATOR CAP IS THE CULPRIT...IT MAY BE DAMAGED OR WRON OUT(AS IN MY CASE)...I REPLACED THE CAP TWICE BUT WATER USED TO DECREASE ON REGULAR BASIS & I HAD TO TOP IT UP ON DAILY BASIS IN RESIVIOR BOTTLE...FOR ABOUT A YEAR........DAILY.
2 WEEKS AGO, I NOTICED WATER COMMING OUT FROM BELLOW THE RADIATOR CAP...I WENT FOR DAESI JAGAR....AS CAP WAS REASONABLY GUD, I MADE A HOME MADE RUBBER SEAL FROM A USED MOTOR CYCLE TUBE (IN ADDITION TO THE ONE PRE INSTALLED ON RADIATOR CAP... I FITTED THE EXTRA 1....I AM TALKING ABOUT THE BIGGER OUTER SEAL... NOT THE SMALLER INNER 1)
& 2MY SURPRISE, NO WATER DECREASE HAS OCCURRED 4 LAST TWO WEEKS IN THIS MUCH HEAT OF JUNE 2011(NEITHER FROM RADIATOR NOR RESERVIOR BOTTLE)....
M MUCH HAPPY & SURPRIZED THAT THIS LITTLE TRICK HAS WORKED!!!

Ppl call radiator neck as galla in lay man words....most probably it is not having sealed contact with radiator cap...& u know when engine & radiator r hot, we cant notice wster droplrts fslling from there on rsdiator & evapourating instantly...
Else check radiotor cap,
resivior bottle & tube connecting bottle to the radiator!!
