Reasons to buy Mitsubishi Lancer GLx in 2016

Average looking interior (and exterior as well) if you compare them with the design of Civic, Corolla and City of the same era then you ll come to the conclusion that the other companies put in so much effort into designing this vehicle. This may not be a good reason.

LOL. The 1.6 GLX has one of the classiest looking interiors till date. Whenever someone takes a ride in it, they are highly impressed by the interior, not sure as to why you dislike it, the interior of the civic or the Corolla was rather normal, nothing that made it sparkle above

I'm getting 11-12 in city and 16+ on highway on my 1.6 GLX Auto.

Idle valve did fail and it's a problem with all cars. No electronic failures till date.

Car is still on original water pump, thermostat and radiator with no leakage or overheating at any time. No overheating even on steep hill climbs with full load and AC on. All depends on how you keep the car. Fluids are most important.

CVT only uses the Mitsubishi Diaqueen ATF SPIII fluid which is also mentioned in the owner's manual. I've always used that and the transmission is running fine.

Sorry but couldn't help jump in the discussion. There are two Lancers in my family. One is 1.3 L while the other is 2.0 L (Australian model).

The cousin, who owns 1.3 L bought it in 2004. It was perhaps the first one in Pindi at that time. He still owns it. Highly reliable vehicle. With close to 300 k only done routine maintenance. Recently had suspension work done with shocks also changed. All parts purchased locally at rates competitive with Corolla of same year model.

The 2.0 L car was bought in 2007, has unmatched pick but less fuel efficiency. It's ECU was changed once (imported from Dubai) with other routine maintenance. Still going strong.

Disagree.

1. It has one of the best interiors especially GLX which has beige + wooden trim. Looks elegant even today. Much ahead of Civic 2004's bland interior back in the day. Keeping it clean is a different problem altogether.

2. All 1.3 Auto are under powered. Even present day 1.3 GLi Auto and City 1.3 Prosmatec. Generally they all do 0-100 in 13-14 seconds and top out at 170 km/h.

3. Haven't had any of the issues you mentioned so far. Mine is 148KM driven, 2005 1.3 Auto GLX, and I am the 1st owner.

Old thread, but can you tell me where in Bilal ganj if you remember? Or can anyone point me to a mechanic who's done cvt repairs on lancers before?
