I just found out that since my last trip they have moved my car out of the bay and have stopped working on the car. I've been really busy so i have not been able to pay them a visit in a while.

Will update you all in a few days hopefully,... wasn't expecting such behaviour from their side,.. not with me!

some bodywork repair has been carried out (alot of rust found) but i'm still awating my new 18 guage floors, will post some pics soon.

Update 22-03-07

Update 31-03-07 - as i promised a friend, i'll finish the project and share the build process with you all....

I have just read the whole topic(a lot of efforts you have put) . would you be able to tell me which kind of model(model code) is it, and how easy is to find the engine & susp parts in PK for this icon?.thanks

it is a 1303L (code 134, often reffered to as the superbeetle) with a 1.3L AR series engine, not a 1303S or LS which come with a 1.6L. Generally most parts are available for this car through a specialist dealer in RWP (moqeem) but some model-specific parts will have to either be sourced in the 2nd hand markets, fabricated or imported by me at a later date.

All engine parts except a carb service kit are available in PK in one form or another, specially for the 1.2, 1.3, 1.5 & 1.6. parts for the 1.7, 2.0 etc engines can sometimes be hard to find since they are actually type 2 (van) engines.

Alot of parts are being fabricated in PK since many people don't realise the quality which can be achieved here from skilled labour (such as most interior parts)

there is a huge debate as to what to do with the engine, I initially thought abou tgetting it sand and bead blasted clean and then having parts powdercoated etc but since the 1300 (AR) engine i have only produces 44hp (same as a regular 1500 (like an H series) and was costing me alot to get new sleeves pistons and heads to convert it to 1915cc (stroke: 69, Bore: 94). i have more or less decided to opt for a 66hp CA series (1679cc with hydraulic tappets) engine from a type 2 van (Bore:88, stroke:69) with a few modifications to make it fit the type 1 chassis. Now the job is to find a good one which is in repairable condition. Once i get it i'll have it sand & bead blasted and powdercoated etc.

Wont you be turbocharging it or getting webers and stuff for it ? Cuz 66hp is so slow !
