@kiani1
in your case i'll suggest you avoid page 15 of this thread as it has alot of pics (that's why i stuck to just one post instead of spreading the pics over many posts).
I will start getting this engine cleaned up and stripped once the body work goes a little further so it'll all be ready at the same time. I'm just a little hesitant at the moment since i'm trying to get another engine. no use in rebulding this one if i'm going to change it eventually, but if i don't find a 1700 then i guess i'll have to just make do with this one for the time being.
Most likely if i stick to this engine (1300) i'll be either fitting dual carbs (either 30, 31 or 34's, no larger), or a very small turbo to it to help with bottom end torque a bit, but i'm not done with the calculations at the moment, will be relying heavily on Racerf1 & f2 for this since they know more about custom applications than i do.
either way i'm not going for a "race" or "fast road" setup, rather i'm just aiming to make the most of the engine (more efficient use of each combustion cycle)
BTW i should point out that 44HP in a beetle is enough to beat a cultus on petrol due to weight (proven with agha300 in my last 1500cc beetle), and 44hp can push a basic beetle to 85mph given a long enough run (like F5).
the reason i'm going for a larger engine is basically (for example) instead of tuning up a D16, i'll start with a B16,... if you know what i mean.
also i should point out that 66hp in a beetle is enough to make VTi drivers wonder what they hell is chasing them...
