yes but notice the new floors are in on one side and so are the support brackets etc,.. and the chassis was cleaned of all debris and tar sheets (and the body has had panels fit)

Like i told you that day, it'll be a slow process.

Was joined by a DXB member today PW ID is "charged". a great VW fan but golfs not Beetles. Was thinking about calling you but then i didn't want to ruin your sleep time, and i didn't want you to see me all dirty

indeed alot of work has been done.floors/panels, paint scrapping. hope the work catches up before intense summers else u would be a stink bomb visiting the workshop and working along

@storm....very nice restoration going on bhai.I have seen the pics.marvelous.I wanted to ask about the floor pans.is it the original pattern of beatle?all the designs and grooves of the floors are pressed or hand made?

I decided not to go for brazilian floors since they are of a lighter metal. these are OEM design floors but stamped out in 18 guage metal using the original design (lke you did) and some hand beating due to the 1303 floors being slightly different to the standard beetle floors. Initailly i was going to fit the brazilian ones but after seing your thread i decided to spend a little more and get the floors done right (Y)

now that i have a kid on the way (this month) i have taken this whole month off work. it worked out nicely since i don't have any shipments till the end of april and no guests are visiting me from abroad either, so i am getting as much work done as i can before the month ends and the kid arrives (any time now).

Also since i was (currently) working from home it's not so bad having odd hours.

@storm....it seems that the guy making your bug have some experience of beatles before.am I right?actually I have not much knowledge about beatles but I know that super beatle has coil springs in front suspension instead of torsion bar and wind screen is a bit round and has a dash board.floor pans seem very nice and very nicely fitted.are you going to bring it to the stock shape or some flared fenders as we have some beatles with medium and very nicely flared fenders in lahore.they look different and marvelous.decent and not cheap looking or over done.any how....what ever but your beatle is going to be a brand new car INSHALLAH and you are putting real efforts into it.BEST OF LUCK.

yes he's a VW mechanic and has built countless beetle till date. you are right abou tthe info you have on the Super. I'll not be flaring the fenders or altering the body in any way as i wish to restore the car 100% and add a few modern touches but nothing which wil remove it from the "true" 1303 design.

body has been stripped and new parts are being added to the door frame, wheel wells etc... alot of cutting and welding at the moment, have not found time to go see the car yet. maybe tomorrow or on sunday i'll go snap up a few more pics.

My father is one big fan of VW, he bought his first VW in germany back in 1968 when he was studying there textile eng. VW ppl suggested to get the body of 1300 with engine of 1500, he brought it to pkaistan in 1970 and drove from karachi to Abotabad (jhangira) and after some time sold it, He says the road grip VW has no car matches it! I have never driven VW

the 1968 1300cc (E & F-series engine codes) and 1500cc (H-series engne code) have the same body. in 1968 only the auto had IRS the rest of the beetles had swing axles, and i'm guessing yoru dad had a manual version. He should try a 1302 or 1303 some time to rekindle his love for beetles, they don't spin out on the limit like the beetles with Swing axles.
