***Rebuilding my VW 1303 Superbeetle***

Hi Sameer bhai,

I think we met when i stepped over the PW meet in ISB when Awais braught his "Dominator"

I have read from page 1 to this page since yesterday and not missed a single line - wish i could have these much resources and knowledge - People like you and Asad bhai, are the torch bearers of VW enthusiasts and owners in Pakistan.

I restored my beetle(1974) back in 2007 but was not that happy cuz of limited funds (chunk going from my salary every month) and extremely poor workmanship of the body guys (dentor/painter). Nowadays, when my beetle has to go through a bump or a bit battered road, it feels as if i never had the dentor doing anything 2 years back. But thanks to the mechanic (Uncle Saleem) my spirits are still high and no plans of selling it.

Ive upgraded the engine to 1300cc and using the carborator that is in ur 1303, plus changed the transmission too since the original one was for 1200cc and the engine used to start shouting with the transmission going in its on pace.

My Speedo works and my beetle touches 60MPH on half paddle but sadly due to poor denting job, i just dont feel confident. and now i am out of funds too

I would like to take this opertunity to apologize to asad bhai on not keeping in touch and not updating progress when i was restoring my beetle - cuz i felt i would be disappointing him big time!

@mominhaq89 mainly since i have driven LHD 14 years of my life (mainland europe) and i think i have more control with a LHD (change gears with my right hand etc). Autos can be either LHD or RHD but manuals i preffer LHD

you're fadi right? yes i recall meeting you once before. if i recall correctly you had a 67 beck then. it's sad to hear about the work done on your car, but do note that in time you'll be able ot rebuild it again,.. adn this time you woudl have learned from your (denters) mistakes. never lose hope, afterall i think all of us VW owners have learned from our experiences in the past.

I wish i know as much as asad and romano etc but i still have alot to learn but thanks for putting me in the same catagory as those guys.

do post up some pics of your car in the VWCOP thread as well as a detailed description as to what you feel is going wrong with it and we'll all try and help you out as much as we can.

yes sameer bhai I am fadi. I have always had one and only beetle (1974). Let me try and find a few pics that i can upload

^^ thanks, it was very glossy in the beginning but time took most of its shine away, though my beetle is kept clean by a dedicated guy and waxed every 2 weeks without any exceptions.

what is "vert door kit" ?? i might need it, as i am looking for anything related to doors and windows

how can i get rubbers for the quarter windows, as during restoration, they were not available so my mechanic's ingenius son constructed one with silicon it looks very shabby but it works, and the same thing happened with the tail lights, due to unavailability, we had to use plastor of paris to make base for the tail lights since the rubber wore out.

took the 1303 to khalids today, got the tappets adjusted and now she is running perfectly,... LOVELY!!!!

Thanks Storm for suggesting Asad, however, I have been trying to get intouch with him invain for quite some time now. Have already checked Shershah..did not find a silencer of good enough quality. Raheem is a rip-off and I feel is not very reliable either.
