trust me i know exactly how fast your car is as it has nearly the same setup as mine but with an even lighter body,.. also people underestimate VW's. do note that our cars were built to top out at around 100km/h,.. any faster than that and you'll have to start upgrading all the suspension, brakes, steering etc.
my 1303 screams for mercy at around 110km/h but i've only done that once on the motorway since with the intermediate gears and short tyres the ratios are about the same as if i had a short ratio gearbox. i believe i have an AH 4.125 gearbox in my 1303
same with the thing, it has an AK 3.875 ratio box but at the moment it has short tyres but even at 80km/h the car is almost idling in 4th.
finding a good used AK, AL, AN, AO, AR, AS, AT or AU will be next to impossible, specially the AL, AR & AU ones as they have LSDs. they never come up for sale as every collector is sitting at full attention waiting for them. you're better off buying taller rear tyres but do note that they don't make a HUGE difference to top speed, but they DO slow the acceleration down.
