Remaining car .....rear end removed .....looks something like this .....

So we are starting with the rear end .....placed on wooden benches ........

Now we are assessing ......which panels need to be replaced......I think .....this part (under rear seat) should also be replaced along with Floor pans....
But first of all ....we will start with rear floor pans ....

Another view of right rear floor pan.....Notice that metal has turned into "feather edge" shape....A lot of rust underneath.....So no option except to replace the whole structure.....

Saqib bhai...it is 1200 cc....very initial models were 948cc upgraded to 1200....so this is early 1200 cc model ....

Now the situation is something like this ......Rear end is placed on wooden benches ...so one can work on it easily....

Work started with right rear floor pan.....First of all made "FARMA" of the exact Pattern of the original floor .....which is quite difficult and time consuming job....something like this...

This is the basic thing of all the work......The lines you see on this paper are grooves on original floor...at exact location....

Salamz and welcome Ansar bhai ,

Perfection is in Nature...:)...Cant do anything without trying to get maximum possible perfection.....Lets see How Perfectly we can make this car......
Now about clone :D...You know a lot of debate was there ...lolzz...So No problem.....I can come along with Ustaad zahid for your project....

Same situation on the left fender of the red spitfire and a patch of around 4 sq inch on the boot .......New bright red paint ruined ......even before car is assembled back..... Not much bothered about BMW but felt very bad for my spitfire .......because years of working /precautions and care gone down the drain..... So like this both of the cars Are ruined.........:(.......So I was sorting out ,what to do now...... This is the sad story of last couple of days..... ANY HOW.......SUB CHALTA HAI LIFE MAIN...........

Hope you are in best of spirit & of your health. Thats the most important thing when we are 40+, we owe that to family we are responsible for.

am sorry for the rain damage to cars. These extra pairs of helping hands working at our homes are 'typical sano ke cases' no matter what duration they been in household part of family their 'mentality' remains 'Jahil & Kahil' - One of my driver for over a decade in Islamabad ruined a 2005 GLI costed me a real fortune to put her on road.

You are right dear.....These type of small things happen.....All the fixtures needed for a canopy in the floor is already done for more than a year.....My bad...being Lazy....resulting in all this ......Now will do in near future.....in fact immediately...before fixing the cars....

You are absolutely right brother.......you just talked my heart out.....At our age and stage....and specially like me with a serious health problem (Back surgery and prolapsed discs ) Things become more compromised....and we cant do what we want to and what we used to do in past ........developing a little frustration....I used to do every thing on my cars with my own hands .....enjoying a lot.....even over hauled an engine alone of triumph herald which is still lying with me brand new ....never used after that....
But now Cant open a tight bolt.....
You very Rightly said that it does not matter that for how long these people are with you and they do not realize and appreciate ,What good things you have done for them during that time ......even going out of the way......
Let me Share another thing with you brothers.....which has touched me a lot .....in fact hurted me a lot ......
All you brothers Which are with me During all these restorations.......Must Know "RAEES" a lot of his pics in all these restorations.....
That guy was with me for last 15 years and did not know how to hold a spanner in the beginning ........I taught him every thing in details ...how to overhaul an engine,suspensions and built his confidence by offering him to work on expensive and sensitive vehicles like Land cruiser and BMW even.....
When we Bought this triumph herald.....we were assembling back the red spitfire which was newly painted and dismantled....finding its parts scattered all over the house....
Now herald was parked in the lawn...waiting for restoration....I asked him to leave work of spitfire for 3/4 days and dismantle Triumph herald So that we may Give it to USTAAD Zahid .....a long way to go ...so he may start making different panels of the car and then we shall resume our work on spitfire......I don't know why ,he did not want to disassemble herald.......and was working on the car as if we are going to give it to Kabaria and not for restoration......
I made him Realized that this is for Hassan (my son)as a gift...so please gentle....But he was sort of ignoring and mishandling .......
As you know That there are two clips on top of the windscreen frame for locking the convertible top....When he was opening that I asked him very politely that be care full.....obviously bolts are stuck.....we are working on a 50 years old car....but he again ignored....I asked to spray WD 40 and leave it for a while.....I came in for a while ad when went out ....he was hitting the stuck bolt with a screw driver and a hammer ......Right over the wind screen A missed hit or slipped screw driver and wind screen is gone....
I shouted to stop.....But by that time ...that clip was broken and both bolts as well in the upper frame of the wind screen....
The wind screen frame of these British classic convertibles are very special and fragile .....they put a steel plate inside before punching the outer and inner sides together .....and screws of the convertible clamps are bolted into that plate...So now Both bolts of one side are broken into that plate ....which are extremely difficult to drill out without stripping the threads....threads are very thin and fine so its very unlikely to drill and save the threads as well .....The moose (a tool to make threads ) will also be very difficult to find of this particular threads and size....
I only said...yaar what have you done....you are not listening to me for last few days .......I know You are a "BIG MECHANIC"now.....But at least you should listen what I am saying.....He kept quite and after a little while the session ended and he left....
Did not come for 3/4 days .....So i sent my cook to him to see every thing is fine .....He told my cook that "I am very much Insulted by Rahman sb so I don't want to come and work any more"....
I pampered this guy as my own child For Last 15 years ......as far as financial matters are concerned ..........I don't want to go in the details summing up with these words that I Was always there with him In all THICK N THINS .....for fifteen years....in all affairs of life.....rescuing him always going out of the way .....
And after fifteen years.....see what I received in return ......I am just like his father in age....
I AM SORRY FOR SUCH A LONG POST......But as you said that no matter for how long they are with you and what ever you do for them ....they hardly remember any thing .....
I try to share every thing about these restoration with you brothers......
I felt that this sad story is also a part of this game......:)....So you may know This "TWIST IN THE STORY".....as well
