This is my first time posting here on the Pakwheels thread so excuse me if I've made errors in posting it under the right head but I am in dire need of some information and hence here I am.
Starting off with a brief introduction my civic 8th gen was previously maintained completely by my late father who passed away last year in July. He had kept Samurai (as i'd codenamed it and refer to it as) in peek condition from a well known mechanic in Rawalpindi (whom im not going to mention for the sake of avoiding any sort of direct conflict) the problem is that, the car had started leaking oil for quite some time now and I had it checked the mechanic first told me its a fault of the engine seal that is located under the top lid of the engine (tappay) and they instantly advices that i should have it changed. Which I did, along with the relevant oil change and everything. However the problem still persisted. I took it to him again to which he said to me I know you can't afford it right now that is why I didn't ask you to get it fixed before but now that you're curious I have to tell you that it's the engine growing weak and you'll have to get the whole engine swapped for a new (genuine? not kabuli as he said) engine estimate of the cost is 150-200k PKR.
For a second opinion my uncle took me to his mechanic who stated the engine is in peek condition it's the gear and engine seals that are leaking and once they're fixed the problem will be resolved. One thing i should mention here is that my car is a Auto (VTI Oriel Prosmatec UG to be exact) if that helps in anything. The cost estimate was 15-20k by this mechanic but later he identified both the engine mounts are cracked too, for which he stated the cost would be 10-12k?
For a middle ground I went to a third mechanic who stated the same that the engine and gear seals need to be changed the condition of the gear for now is weak as the car is not shifting gears in the right ranges, he floored it and the car shifted gear with a shake at around 5k rpm. He did state maybe changing the gear oil and servicing the parts would help with that too.
The later two mechanics both stated that the car in the range that the first mechanic had stated would be as if I was driving it out brand new. These mechanics stated that the 150k range would include Suspensions that have given up, electric steering and all the seals and everything getting replaced in the car.
I'm once again sorry about the long read i just want to get as much information as i can out there so someone can better guide me as i want to keep Samurai as it's reminiscent to me of my father. The first mechanic stated i should just sell it off instead of working on it, the later two stated the engine is in peek condition.
One more thing i should mention is that the car has driven 128k kilometers roughly now.
My main question is what would be the recommendation you guys would give me regarding this? I'm fairly new to this and would highly appreciate any words of advice in this matter or any references to any article I could look into,
Thank you in advance
