Replacing windshield

I own city idsi 2004, there were water droplets in heavy rain from roof just at right & center edge of windscreen. Denter checked and applied silicon from top & inside from corner to mid of windscreen. . But advised to go to a screen fitter and thoroughly clean old rubber & old silicon & use new rubber & silicon to whole screen to avoid leakages or issues in future for a long term solution.
Do you suggest to get my original screen pulled & again fitted with silicon & rubber or if problem is solved just leave it as it is ????. (denter fitting is yet to be tested by water)

As problem is in silicon and windscreen is perfect, as with time silicon has gaps. I do not want to remove & refit it honestly but need experts opinion. .

Check if there are any leaks after denter's silicon application. If it's good then best is to leave it as it is. Who knows, when you get it pulled for fresh silicon application, new leaks maybe introduced if the applicator does a sloppy job.

However, if there are leaks and water is coming in the cabin, then don't delay it and get it fixed properly. Otherwise, your roof liner will be badly stained and the leaking area will slowly become rusty and get wider as it is collecting moisture now.

Thank you, it makes sense not to mess with it if it does not leak any more. Would do water test tomorrow. Left the newly applied silicon alone for 24 hours to grip.
hope issue is resolved otherwise it is a troubling issue i never faced this before.

Can you please share the difference between genuine & fuyao windscreens? I believe the genuine one has gas etc in it or i am not sure of exact specs. How difference is fuyao from it? Why should i prefer fuyao? Thanks in advance

Fuyao is the oem credited manufacturer for most auto manufacturers. It's glass should be same or better than what came installed as genuine in your car mainly because of superior technology and coatings available now than back then vis a vis Pakistani imports which are usually down spec or strip down variants of what is available in international markets.

Today I got xyg from Amjad autos for 6500/-, cultus old model. It's a laminate. The seller was insisting to get a gas one instead which I declined. Any tips as to whether I got a right one or not?

Why would they insist ? What's the model of your cultus ?

If your car is in rust free condition then you can opt for laminated glass otherwise tempered I have put in my car too and have faced no issues whatsoever. I think you should decide according to your budget if it allows then go for Fuyao if it doesn't then xyg isn't bad at all.

Walaikumasalaam. You can visit Montgomery, fuyao is about 16500 xyg 12500 pak 8500. Genuine also is with some dealers and prices may vary. I think should cost about 20-30k

the windscreen of new 1.8 and 1.6 is different.1.8 comes with acoustic layered laminated vs laminated in 1.6 ...can some one tell what is the difference?

Accoustic laminated reduced outside noise so cabin sound is more insulated. However the ustaads using general silicone will equalize the benefit gain. Glass is supposed to be fitted using Polyurethane in our enviroments.
