This rare Volkswagen Type 1 'split window' is now under restoration.

I have restored many cars in my life time including some rare models, from 2 cyllinder cars to 12 cyllinders. Each car has its own set of challenges and pecularities. Volkswagen cars have an iconic status worldwide. Pakistan is no different. Though I have started work on it and find it much easier and simpler to work on but would still like to have expert opinion of those who have devoted a substantial part of their free time to Volkswagen marque. Though not a restorer myself, I am a big fan bows and this one you have here is unique indeed, will be a treat to watch. contrary to the ususal practice of taking the body off and starting from pan up, I am having the body dented first and then will take it off the frame to replace the pans and restore the bare chassis including mechanicals. Thought behind this process is that the body is on its original mounts right now, never been taken off...so an ideal platform to align the doors, panels etc. Once the body id taken off and reinstalled, any minor adjustments, finishing will be redone.

I need some parts and would appreciate your help if you know where to find them. To start with, I need the body to frame rubber seal, headlights with rims (oval lights may fit, will be checking that in a day or two), one door handle etc.

my apologies for not calling and thanking you for the cd that you sent. I have been extremely tied down with an office issue that is eating my brains up. Thank you for sending it.

The time that I find for my cars has a tremendous cost that I have had to pay in terms of jeopardising the future of my company, denting my revenues big time and giving opportunity to some employees to take advantage of my absence from work.....this needs to change now and I have to focus on work and get my cash inflow back on track.

thanks buddy, I am looking for some parts and will be contacting muqeem sb. soon. I need head light assemblies (oval VW will fit), I need body seals, etc. Let me know if you know a source.

 To all the viewers, this is the oldest known VW beetle in the country and a very rare model with tremendous worldwide appeal and demand. 

 Shall be contributing to this rebuild both on this thread AND during visits to the garage/Mohsin bhais home.

some more pics....sills and the floor pan are a horror story. Main bodt structure and panels are dented but in excellent shape considering this car was lying on a heap of garbage with flat tires under the sun and dew for many years in Karachi's saltish weather.
