perhaps it must have been a program on our recent rally from Karachi to Islamabad....I drove my 1954 Austin Healey 100 all the way and my son drove my 1965 Ford Mustang 289 V8 Convertible .

primer done, ready for paint. I intend to put a coat of paint on this panel to see how the original shade of 'pastel green' L11 looks on it.

yes and no.....sourcing original parts for this one is going to be a challenge....and a bigger challenge to find the money to buy those parts.

Getting people to work on these cars properly is also becoming a big problem. Lets see how it worls out.

now thats a rare beetle. i am happy that its in your hands and will get restored properly like all your other projects. following this thread closely and anxiously waiting for the end result.

Unfortunately, my limited technical know how, I probably wont be able to find out the part my self. You can look around on ebay or any online site

Yes the parts are indeed a big challenge for the split beetles. The 'W-decklid' shown above alone sells for British Pound Sterling 400-600! And that too without the licence plate light......

Hope this gives an idea to all how difficult it is to restore a Beetle of this vintage.......

I hope you can substantiate your claim of seeing another Split Beetle in Karachi.....as far as we know, this is the only one, though we wish there were more....

In the past there have been many myths of more Split Bugs but once someone went down to actually trace the cars, all turned out to be of the non-split species
