Once again apologies for updating the thread lately.
Lets continue from the last DIY of brake job during Ramadan in the lockdown days.
Next day, I saw some drops of power steering oil under the car, upon close inspection, noticed oil seepage on the steering rack input shaft.
Initially it felt like oil is leaking from this high pressure line or return line as one can see oil seepage/leakage here on the joints.
Upon close inspection, I found that steering rack input shaft oil seal was the main culprit & leaked oil was dripping down on these pipes from up there.
Oil leakage was from this seal actually.
Now removing the old seal & installing new was one HELL OF A JOB. Talked to many mechanics & most of them suggested to remove the steering rack from the car & replace seal, jab k I wanted to do the job without removal of rack. Khair kudos to @chbilalnasar bhai, he explained me about the procedure without removing the rack as he went through this previously.
Really appreciate your help & guidance Bilal bhai.
Access to the working area from inside the cabin. Working space was very very tight, it was very hard to get in tools there.
The steering rack input shaft was at such an angle that no C-clip pliers were able to catch the C-clip. So it took me straight 2 to 3 hours of khuwari to remove the C-clip, that too with jugaadi tool (i.e. took a bike's rim wire and knives taiz krnay wala ko bola k is k edge ko sharp krdo)
This is how the old seal came out ...
- Installed new seal of NOK
- Fitted everything back
- Flushed out old fluid
- Filled in fresh fluid
- Burped air out of the system
- Topped up the fluid
No more foaming in the p.s fluid reservoir
No more power pump whining on the cold starts
Extra smooth steering
ALHAMDOLILLAH
