DIY: Transmission Oil Replacement
So its time to replace gear oil as we have done more than 40k kms on the old one, which we poured in at the time of swap.
Toyota suggests to use 75w-90 GL4 grade M/T fluid in their vehicles but locally I had very limited options i.e. KIXX or ZIC 75w-85. So I preferred ZIC over KIXX.
You'll find this drain bolt of 24mm, its almost identical on all M/T toyota models.
Old oil is draining out, its very dirty.
Removed the splash guard shield from the gear side for better access.
Now re-install the drain bolt.
Lets talk about re-fill, this is also a 24mm bolt for refilling.
Removed it
For refilling, got the jugaar done, found that the AC drainage pipe fits in perfectly in the refill port.
FRESH fluid going-in
Service manual says that you should add the fluid untill you see the fluid coming out of the refill port, and exactly this happened when the 2nd liter pack was about to end, a drop or 2 came out of the refill port.
Although some friends says that their car (same model, engine & tranny) takes 2.3 to 2.4 liters of fluid. Seems like this little bit difference is due to leveling of vehicle, as my car was on leveled floor/surface during the refill, while in most workshops the dugs are a bit tilted.
