Mine is also same. Japan is written on chasis plate, though its pkdm. You can also confirm by the documents about it being pkdm or jdm.

So a little update on this oxygen sensor related issue. I got the O2 sensor replaced & the code disappeared. Also confirmed the proper functioning of oxygen sensor via multimeter.

The light inside the trunk wasn't working. Checked its bulb n wiring, both were fine. The real culprit was the switch on the latch which lights up the bulb by grounding it when we open the trunk.

Few days back, I also replaced coolant as the old one was contaminated with tap water, thanks to a stupid local mechanic for pouring tap water in coolant reservoir without letting me know.

Yup both fuel economy & pick up was increased untill I landed into another trouble of my ECU getting fried due to moisture (I think).

It was continuously throwing error code 33 (i.e. bad iacv). Initially I cleaned iacv as well as throttle body. Also cleaned spark plugs & distributor cap. But the car was unable to idle smoothly. Idle rpms were continuously jumping between 500 to 800 with CEL on. And upon sudden throttle, TB sy "patakhay" atay thy.

Replaced 2 to 3 iacv sensors, checked wiring continuity from iacv to ecu (i.e. RSO & RSC) also getting 12v in middle wali pin. Everything was good, but the issue was still there.

Also checked the fuel pressure from return line in order to rule out weak fuel pump issue. And it was fine.

So lastly, we replaced the ECU & everything went perfectly normal.

For now, I am running the Auto transmission ECU as unable to find the M/T ECU here in my city, due to which fuel mileage dropped from 18 to 14 kmpl. Throttle response also feels a little bit sluggish.

Next day I opened up my original M/T ECU to check its internal condition. There was a carbon buildup on one of the resistors/transistors OR whatever you call it.

I also found some burn marks on the PCB

After cleaning, installed it back. Unfortunately Zero improvement.

@SER_GTR @Xulfiqar sir plz suggest any expert, who can repair my original ECU ? I can courier it to any major city i.e. lahore, pindi, karachi, Peshawar. Bss bnda quality repair krdy.

Upon googling, came to know that this is the part number for M/T ecu.
89661-2D240

And currently I am running this ECT ecu.

Another major difference that i noticed in M/T & ECT ecu's is the number of microprocessors.

ECT ecu has 3 microprocessors

Whereas, my original M/T ecu has 2 microprocessors

ECT ECU is to shift the automatic transmission, thats why it has another processing unit.

Then why it affected the fuel mileage. Previously I was getting 18 kmpl. After replacing ECU, I am getting around 14 kmpl.

The ECT ECU is stuck in limp mode because its missing all the automatic transmission inputs, this forces it to run in open loop mode all the time and will dump fuel into the engine (which can wear out your engine very quick)

Yes your ECU can be repaired, lots of repairsmen exist for this in almost all cities, @rajaatta or @syncview may be able to point some out.

Question is - where did the moisture come from?

Umm I think this is my own mistake. During these winters, I once cleaned its interior carpets, seats & headliner with wet rag of apc & then locked/parked the car with windows fully closed without following any proper drying techniques for like 10 to 15 days.

P.s. The place where this car remains parked doesn't gets any sunlight.

So I think this introduced moisture in the ECU as it is placed behind the console nearest to the carpet. Baqi floor rubbers n all is fine.
