Indeed its all about passion! My 1302 was a babby and always deared like one. The deep purple beauty was washed and waxed twice weekly for all those years I owned her - even when I was out of town. Her present owner doesn't seem to have a heart.

now is a great time to make sure that ALL ruber seals in the engine bay are 100% ad all the monts are perfect.

i made the mistake of not replacing the rear seal (behind fan shround) and i had to take out my engine to do it. BUT i also changed my mounts and suspension bushes at the same time so it was worth the effort.

ensuring that ALL the seals are up to spec will help your engine run ALOT cooler and will be more reliable.

Soon after we left the paint booth .... some thing happened that left me a little numb for a while .... but I can smile now ..... i had never imagined that such a thing could happen ..

This resulted in the project slowing down very very much as the momentum was broken .... still gathered some courage and started again.

Long time since I updated this thread.... so uploading the latest pics and the work done on the Beetle.... and what I plan to do ....

Work done todate...

First things first ....new computerised book in my name, updated taxes got the return file which shows that it was initially used in Dhaka.
Complete denting new floor pans etc.
Paint work
Completely new upholstery
installed new Hella Headlights
Replaced ols engine with a sparingly used and not overhauled to date engine.
Installed German used Bumpers with indicator slots.
Replaced all four tyres with General 15" tyres.
Galvanized door lock mechanism
Powder coated engine tin ware
installed bituman sheets on floor pans, doors, rear panels and luggage area.
laid namda b4 carpeting for further sound deadening
Pasted thermopole sheets on the roof for some insulation
New pressure plate & clutch plate
replaced Axle boots
Installed four vent deck lid in place of the previous two vent deck lid
New rear brake light covers
New foot boards
hmmmm n may be some more stuff which I can not recall at the moment.
