Side running boards, applied a coat of anti-rust on each then two coats of flat black paint. The finish on these boys is sweet!

BTW, I am looking for the rubber mat and the 18mm side moulding. Anyone have an idea from where I can get both?

Bumper brackets, all four of them were sanded and smoothened out before painting. They have been painted the same flat black paint the running boards have been painted with.

Did you check the windscreen for leakage? If you didn't, it would be the right time to do it. pour water from a pressure hose all over the windscreen gasket all around and see if it seeps at the inside of the car from any of the corners/areas. If it does, re-adjust the rubber gasket until it does away the leakage else you are gonna mess up the windscreen lipping by catching rust whenever you car is washed/gets wet.

No, haven't checked it for leakage. Will do that ASAP.

For rubber, talk to basit he gets these made locally on order in black and one or two other colors as informed by @AsadIshaque. I am not sure if he would be having it ready for you when you reach for it. And if you do end up ordering, order two pairs of running board rubbers for me too - one in black and other in white

For the side thick trim, call shahzebulhaq in islamabad. He got me a pair made for 1300 back last year in good quality but to mount that, you would be needing ten molding clips which are hens teeth. For molding clips search patina's thread for "running board molding clips" and you shall see how those look exactly as I have few of them - unfortunately incomplete set.

I see, I'll give doc a call tomorrow and ask him for Basit's contact details. Sure don't worry I'll get you the two pairs you need.

Hmmm, I think just installing the rubber mats for now will be fine. I'll get the trim installed once I have a complete set of molding clips as you've mentioned.

5th picture in this post - in the centre of the circled front hood seal you could see the 06 running board molding clips. Ten are needed (five on each) am short of four

You should have told me when I was at Shahbuddin's shop. I would have been able to find them some digging, he had ALOT of stuff in stock and I mean ALOT.

I gave the rear light reflectors for hot-dip galvanizing. Gave the front hood VW emblem and decklid VW1300 emblem for chroming. Gave them to Arif chrome wala, he's located near the Tariq Road area.

The emblems would be done by tomorrow but the reflectors won't as they will go to Lalu Kheet for the hot-dip. I will pick all the stuff up on Saturday inshAllah.

the proper finish for chrome is to copper plate first, there are only a few places in Karachi doing that and your emblems and odd bits would cost about Rs 2000/- for proper chroming that does not peel or fade.

Anyway to shine up the handles remove them from the car and use a mild organic acid along with a balled up aluminium foil piece - then scrub away, the acid will eat off the oxidation, apply metal polish afterwards. My benz star was weatherbeaten to a dull gray - I just used some powdered cleaner (bar keeper freind) it contains some acid content derived from rhubarb - now the star literally gleams in the sunlight.

btw do us a favor and dont use the rusty tools you showed on the car, no car deserves neglected tools. On being in karachi buy a can of 3m underbody spray and body cavity wax, when the car is fully assembled, all rubbers in place, all hole plugs in place, spray the fenders with the coating (light is good - thick is bad) - the body cavity wax is sprayed into the jack holes and other cavities like the little areas right behind the floor tunnel and also under the fuel tank area. dont spray over moving mechanical parts. It protects from rusting.

Finally received the door panels which @reezvaan sent. They are original Brazilian door panels, the front-left passenger side panel has a map pocket and the rear-right side passenger side panel has a cut out for the ashtray.

I am glad they reached without being damaged. I really appreciate Reezvaan for taking time out and sending them to me

The handles look pretty good in proper sunlight, I don't know why they look faded in the pictures. I'll get them cleaned up.

I didn't use those tools, the fitter did. All there tools are pretty much like that.

Where can I get the 3M underbody and body cavity wax sprays?

before installing them - goto an A/C shop and buy some sticky rubber from them, roll up that rubber into thin ropes and line the door frame with it - then use a regular plastic sheet (bookshops and plastic "bartan ki dukaan" sell such sheets too, paste that sheet onto the sticky rubber and insert the holders through the sheet to keep it put.That sheet will preserve the card that these panels are formed with, otherwise you will be looking at renewing the cards next year because rain or washing water soaked them up.The plastic barriers are actually vapor barriers. - furthermore - if you did get hold of body cavity wax, spray inside the doors generously - VWwerke applied loads of it when this car rolled off in wolfsburg, it must be washed and scraped off by now. It really preserves unpainted sheet metal for ages.

What is that sticky rubber known as? You're talking about the black one that's outlined inside the door panels right?

I dont know - I called it chipakne waali rubber at the car A/C supply shops. You can also look for authentic ribbon sealer - its sold at auto glass vendors. It comes in a roll like tape and is rubber based. It expands like mad and is very sticky - that is what VW and all car manufacturers till today use. Its stuck to the outer edges of the door metal where the card panel end. Look up google - you'll get the idea.This plastic skin when missing causes the famous wet floors in VW in rain.

As you guys can see in the pictures the rear windscreen has a leakage on the left-hand side, the rubber was a bit mis-aligned as well. Should I fill silicone in that specific area or should something else be done?
