Well, first of you all you know that the color is matte right? You're correct about the spare wheel arch area not being finished properly. I will clean those pipes myself, anything else you may like to add?

Removed it, found the gap. Sealed with a bit of silicone from the inside. Then completely satisfied myself by pouring two jugs of water to check for any leakages, the silicone worked.

I might have answered @amirhasan's Qs for you @murtaza_murti but what you see is a recipe of disaster:

while you remove the rubber seal and seal the windscreen leakage as @Xulfiqar suggested, just do NOT forget to plug this gap as pointed out by the arrow above. Otherwise what you would end up eventually is this:

water will seep through this gap and would eat up everything under the luggage compartment carpeting. so be wary!

Yes, the rubber is short. Silicone has been filled in that area. I double checked with two jugs of water too see if there are any leakages but thankfully there aren't any whatsoever.

Fitted the following today

• Running boards
• LHS quarter glass
• Front driver and passenger side chrome window channels

@xulfiqar and @reezvaan I don't have the rubber gaskets for the front fender indicators. What should I do till I get a pair of gaskets in hand?

Also, how are the rear side windows fitted? There are two metal channels that screws go through. But I think both the channels on which the screws fix on are missing.

Can you guy help me out on this?

buy a sheet of thin rubber, put the indicators inverted on top of the sheet, mark the outline and cut with scissors; there, you have a makeshift gasket until you get the correct ones. You even can make use of an old motorcycle tube for this purpose.

About rear windows, what channels are you talking about? Are you talking about the 05 screw holes on the vertical window lipping/flange of the rear quarter window frames? If so, as far as I can see the picture of Blue in the starting post of the thread, she has "fixed" rear quarter windows and not the "pop outs" in which case these wont be used and the fixed windows would be adjusted in place with window rubber seal covering these holes.

Got the emblems and reflectors back from Arif chrome wala. The reflectors have been galvanised. He did a pretty good job, I'm satisfied.

Installed the rubber bases to the tail light bases. These were bought from @intelect (Rizwan bahi) and they're the German ones.

In other news, I am still on the hunt for a decent electrician who can come to the workshop and do his work there. The wiring is currently the only hold-up. Even the upholstery guy is on the hold for the electrician to come and get the wiring done so that he can stitch and install the headliner, rear window area and pillar vinyl.

What do you guys suggest? Should I get all the wiring parts myself and give the electrician only his labor charges or should I leave it all up to the electrician? Need input guys!

He's one of the best for German vehicles.

whoever your electrician is - I would suggest you buy some new wire rolls in the colours and thicknesses you want, most probably you would need brown, green, red and black. Splice with solder to repair your old wiring and seal with heatshrink, for the Gen+Starter - buy new cables and put on spade connectors to disconnect near the generator, dont twist tape it.Wiring should be done ONCE for a lifetime, not over and over again. - Most electricians will use one wire colour to save their cost, but it becomes stupid to troubleshoot.

if u are redoing its wiring completely then go with its wiring diagram and complete everything do as is staated and color code it if possible
what i have heard is when ever u rewire a beetle NEVER replace the wiring on the engine
so better buy a used wiring aswell i think hassan bought it for 1600 with th light switch

^^ who told you not to replace the wiring on the engine?? its about 5 wires in total or something.murti - your car should have some wiring in it or do you start it by touching hot bridging the starter?? It is possible that it maybe missing the entire wiring loom for which I suggest that you take a hard look at the wiring diagram and then measure your car's length etc - make a general list of which wire colors are used to most, buy accordingly. For best wiring supplies there is a place in Plaza called Lahore wire cables (something like that) its besides Fair Trade Motors the little shop that sells spark plugs and cables. The shop on the other side of fair trade has all sorts of Bosch relays and other items and also spade connectors (male and female by the dozen)
