Some checking that they align well.....
Now that question was that how to join them securely and strongly....I decided to use 3/4 inch wide thin angle iron.....checked and chose the soft one because we intended to drill a lot of holes in them...some are so hard that drilling is very difficult through them....So Raees is measuring the desired length for one joint....
Converted our front veranda into workshop as well....
Miscellaneous things.....Farmas/patterns/nuts/bolts drill etc scattered in the entrance of the house...so enter at your own Risk..:D...
First we decided to cut angle iron with metal hacksaw....
In the mean while I recalled that we got a small grinder lying somewhere in the house.....After a good search....we discovered it from TV lounge cupboard lower drawer...:)...Some more measurements....
Now a rough shape of the glove box is being made from the pieces we cut from the sheet of gatta with the help of masking/paper tape....
Ok....An approximate shape of the box is achieved with the help of masking tape...notice that all pieces are asymmetrical and are joined together at different angles..not 90 degree...as you know that angle iron is at 90 degree bend ...so there was another problem to use 90 degree angle iron to join different pieces together which are attached other than 90 degree angles....
A view from the back side....
I asked Raees that we should use angle iron strips to join them instead of masking tape as we want with our hard board....so some angle cutting is in process...
Some more aggressive cutting....we wasted a lot of pieces while experimenting to find the best way to use them...
I can't recall what Raees was doing in this pic....You see OLD AGE signs :(...probably trying to shape his finger nails with grinder....lolzzz:D.
Now some drilling work going on...Notice the ends of angle iron cut according to the shape of our pieces of Gatta ....
The workers should wear eye protection while doing this work, just a small suggestion.
+1im suffering frm eye infection for quite long coz some petrol went inside while swapping the fuel filter. So protection is necessary
Dear Abdul Rahman Bhai,Assalam Alaikum.
Good to see you back. Insha Allah very soon you will take a countrywide road tour driving this Spitfire:)
:D:D
@VCheng....You are right brother...I always ask my mechanic to wear grinding glasses whenever he is doing this work....got two of them.but he never wears....says that he is not comfortable....But I agree,Safety first.
@Wasay_ahmed...Oh thats bad....MAY ALMIGHTY ALLAH BLESS YOU WITH SPEEDY RECOVERY...I will make it sure that he wears glasses next time.....
RZ...Salamz Rehan Bhai,I have gone through your visit to Mubarik Village...very nice place and trip.I'll definitely (INSHALLAH) drive and enjoy this spitfire where ever it could go...You are right that "ishq nachaway gali gali"...tried my best to copy it in urdu here.....not successful..
Salamz Brothers....lets continue....we were making passenger side glove box.....As I told you before that joining angles were different from the bent angle of 3/4 inch angle iron....so some calculated hitting to increase or decrease the angles...as per required.
