if you keep it stock and slowly restore to factory specs this 1974 Corolla is legend and one of most powerful cars in that size. rebuilding the engine changing gear oil differential oil will rejuvenate the car.

i also recommend Jameel Autos near society office 0300 223 7538 Irshad Ahmed. visit and ask for tunning as in carb overhaul, ignition timing adjustment, tappet adjustment and in the end compression test that can give you an idea about engine health. tappet settings in this vehicle are pretty basic old school.

I would love to keep the car in a stock condition, no smoke in engine but its too noisy, I just want perfect steering work, suspension & smooth drive with an awesome dashboard, these are the required work (this is my first vehicle although I am driving since 2008)

Please post some pics of the interior as well. Just visit the workshops as mentioned by capsat for suspension work. Shershah would be helpful for many parts as these cars (taxis) have been butchered badly and u can get tons of parts from FAHIM bhai or BAREY BHAYYA.....

If u are low on budget and not changing the engine, then go for modification which give the car both modified as well as stock look.

First of all make the engine 100% with all the cooling system maintained as well as fluids, hose pipes, updated.

Then get the floor done so all the welding & dammar stuff is done. Also if u planning to change the seats it would be done both at the same times.

Then go for suspension, tyres and rims.

Do all the mechanical work done and then go for paint / interior / etc

The camshaft is chain driven in K series engines that is why it appears noisy compared to present day EFI / Dual VVTI engines.

K engine can't be noisy. Its either loose tappets or exhaust pipe leaks.

Sir New all engines are chain driven.
K engines are OHV ( pushrod ) while other engines are OHC.

I will recommend to focus on things one at a time. My sequence of priorities would be:

1- Get the body work done (as the car looks in good shape, delay in body works would mean increasing the work)
2- Get the interior comfortable, I.e. Dashboard, seats, carpet and sound deadening works etc)
3- Parallel to step 2, get all the steering and suspension work completed.
4- Go for other mechanical and electrical works

Ekram Dashboard repairing guy is nowadays near Taleemi Baagh. His contact number is 0345-3400207.

Recently, I sent someone in other thread for Khyber dashboard to him and Ekram has done it.

There is another guy named Zafar who has done repair dashboard of Khyber of @drtanveerali.

I will be visiting Mr. Ikram and take his input on what I am thinking and then will visit Mr. Zafar too. What I saw in Dr. Tanveer sb's car was altering the dashboard (which is cleanly done) while I need my car dashboard to look and behave like it came new from factory.

Some weak points identified. I will be looking for a dashboard restorer who will work in detail of all the minor parts and make them as near to factory spec rather than someone who uses jugaads like left, cut screws etc to fix the dashboard one time. [image] [image] [image]

Yes you are right, Zafar has not restored in that case, infact he modified and transformed but he do while Ekram bhai dashboard walay is the real restorer.

In Karachi, there are 2 famous dashboard worker, 1 is Ekram bhai, 2nd one is in Magazine plaza Behined skin hospital, Regal Chowk.
