Ok upon your recommendation, I paid a visit to iqbal shahid sb. To be honest this guy is not a mechanic! Infact, he is an engineer, a scientist and a white collared car technician. Instead of going bonkers with the tools (which almost every mechanic does) and experimenting recklessly, this champ did a THOROUGH analysis of my car and then put forth his observations. The fuel lines were badly screwed up and the carburetor needs servicing from the hands of someone who knows his stuff. The pro spent about a good 1 hour diagnosing the issue and then guided me. No charges were demanded and he has referred me to a competent carburetor mechanic from his circle. I will get it fixed after which my car will be handed over for a tuneup.

He is one of those guys who gives you and your vehicle the much due respect.

An advice for suzuki owners, if you plan on going to iqbal shahid, go with a mindset of actually learning stuff about your vehicle.

I will keep you guys posted about the progress. I'm getting a good vibe from this fellow already.

Ok guys. So wanted to update the members on my fuel consumption issue. Before I start, I would like to state that my margalla's carburetor has suffered the wrath of almost every carburetor ustaad in karachi. Rizwan, rahman, mehmood and javed. All of them turned out to be a waste of my hard earned money. Iqbal shahid sb had advised me to visit a carburetor mechanic of his circle hence I had to travel all the way from North nazimabad to malir for this. The carburetor wala over there was yet another desi carburetor ustaad who would have some 'khol fitting' mechanics by his side and perform the same rituals as everyone else does.

However, I was lucky to have it all running under the supervision of iqbal shahid sb who had warned the carburetor wala toh fix my issue FOR GOOD. I was amongst the first ones to get the carburetor dismantled and was the last to be done with it. The carburetor wala, under the fear and respect of iqbal shahid, was determined to resolve my issue once and for all. According to him, my carburetor was a badly tampered one with half kit swapped with that of a cultus. To my dismay, none of the previous carburetor ustaads had ever stated so. Much to iqbal shahid's claim about his guy, my car, after being with me for 6 years, has finally decided to go easy on me. The fuel average is now stable and the car is yet to receive a final tuneup after which it'll further improve InshaAllah.

My advice to all carburetor car owners: if you witness a deteriorating fuel average, NEVER GO TO A CARBURETOR WALA ON YOUR OWN. consult you mechanic first. Otherwise you'll end up losing 3k without any benefit

Ok so I went to Iqbal shahid sb yesterday (Saturday) around 11 am in the morning for a tuneup after the carburetor overhauling job. Much to my astonishment and excitement, ISS had provided me a very clear brief and estimate of what he was going to do with my car and what would I get out of all this once the job is done. Before proceeding, he sought all the consent from me with very clear deliverables so that we are at the same page by the end of the job.

Despite having a few helping hands and sidekicks, the guy did each and every step on his own and even if he did give the autonomy to his helpers, he would overshadow them so that no blunders are made. The work was performed very neatly, I REPEAT very neatly. In all these years, I had never seen a tuneup of this sort. All the parts were throughly cleaned and serviced, the tappets were adjusted with utmost precision and tuneup was done with the most possible calculations and detail I had ever seen.

The tuneup was quite complicated, yet the pro made it all seem like a convenient one. All the fuel lines were replaced to his satisfaction, the fuel and air filter was replaced.

I simply had to park my car and grab a seat at his shop and enjoy the sunlight. He had undertaken the arrangement of the spares of best possible quality. Yet I was duly updated on every move he made, without me even asking for it.

I was done with it within a very short span of time and I was asked to leave once the car has been tuned to ISS's satisfaction.

The least I could say about the quality of the tuneup is "I've owned a margalla for 6+ years, but I've driven one yesterday onwards only"

The charges were extremely fair and justified for the amount of time, effort and dedication put into the job. This man takes pride in his work which is evident of his skills and confidence.

P.s. it is not over yet. I am due for a visit again day after tomorrow for a post tuneup assessment of the car once I've covered some miles.

Well...... the consumption is still something that remains unresolved. After the tuneup, I went back to iqbal shahid to have the plugs inspected for rich / lean burn. Unfortunately, the tips came out black and full of carbon. He did some setting on the air fuel mixture and asked me to drive for a few days. I drove the car very gently with the lowest possible foot on gas and achieved 11 kmpl. I again visited iqbal shahid and got the plugs inspected which again came out black.

I am again referred to the carburetor specialist but due to my commitments at work and home, I am unable to spare out some time to head over to malir. The daily city driving is giving me 7-8 kmpl with black smoke from the exhaust, engine knocking and black exhaust tailpipe. I have had multiple technicians work on this car and I think it's beyond anyone's control now. I might need to sell the car since I am unable to manage the fuel

Am I missing something? While the entire focus is on the carburetor and tuneup, can the bad fuel consumption be attributed to tank / fuel pump problems?

Furthermore, the exhaust tailpipe has some 'phak phak' sound coming on idle. Iqbal shahid had identified the dry engine valves to be a reason for this and has advised to pour in some engine oil (rs. 50) in the fuel tank so that the valves get lubricated. I haven't done so as I wanted opinions of some senior fellows. @capsat @Xulfiqar plz advise

that phak phak sound is actually a soft misfire from leaky exhaust valves, use a vacuum gauge to identify if you are getting a nice vacuum in the manifold,

remember, carburettor is the last thing you touch in tuning an engine, the ignition system, mechanical fitness and air induction is what is adjusted in "tune up"

If you really have bad valve seats, no amount of tuning can fix it.

For carb basics, the first rule is to set float height properly, only when it is set can you actually tune it, if its too high - it will be forever rich. The airbleed (emulsification) pasages are equally critical and need to be clean in order for the carb to work proper.

2. Oil Filter and Engine Oil Change. (I have both Items)
3. Diagnosis, my SRS Airbag Light is on. Need to get it scanned.

I have read the whole thread and have seen @capsat mention Jameel Auto’s many times. Looking for options as per stated requirements.

yes it can, bad fuel pressure can cause problems but bad fuel pressure won't make the car run rich, so its not that.

your vehicle has a frontal collision. It must've been repaired locally and air bag sensors are messed up.

My Vehicle has never been in an Accident. Was Imported Zero Meter.

However, the Front and Rear Bumper were Painted (Not Damaged or Accident). But this was 2 Years ago, Check light for Airbags is showing since 3 Months.

I visited Jameel Autos, Apparently he doesn’t have the equipment for My Car.

Any leads?

yes i have rcvd the news that they have stopped work on 660 JDM cars.
2013 JDM Mirage brand new zero meter is already 7 years old. The error must be due to some service / washing. electrical malfunction

from this forum i also came across electrician Abid hameed 0333 2201002 he knows people who can fix such sensor issues. he has fixed 1 hi-lux diesel truck wiring which has generator, starter and CSD issues in 2019. You can test try him and share your experience.

You can find abid electrician near Preedy street station at Palaza. There is famous National oIl depot. His workshop is next to this depot. Depot is next to Hindu Mandir. Anyone will guide you once you reach the preedy street Police station. Best of luck.

As said by Sir Xulfiqar.
Cng cause valves to run dry then petrol. As fuel has lubrication effect. Dryness cause carbon deposit on seats much faster then running on petrol. That's why the first thing that shows the sign of cng usage is bad valve seats.
