We started our journey from our office in Lahore at around 5.00 in the evening. To save cost and stomach problems we had decided to take home cooked food for the whole trip. We were 9 men in total and each had one dish cooked and frozen. We kept a big ice box to keep the food fresh.

Travelling through Lahore Islamabad Motorway and then Peshawar motorway made an exit on Rashkai Interchange

Reached Rashkai interchange at about 11.30 PM, Had dinner and some tea anddd some rest too

Travelled the whole night through curvy roads on N 45 covering Malakand, Takht BHai , Temrgira, Batkhela etc.

30 Minutes short of upper dir there is a turn towards Kumrat. A gate has been erected mentioning Bab e Kumrat. From there onwards the road is paved for 8-10 but then road conditions start to deteriorate

Reached this bazar in morning about 9 some of the shops were open most of them were closed. started looking for bread and milk, Found after a little effort and started our journey onwards

Stopped here for Breakfast. got tea from the chappar hotel there and took our breakfast..was a beautiful place.. had some rest and lots of pics

A few KMS ahead of the nashta place was this trout farm. stopped there for a while but bcoz of tiredness no one got down to see trouts

Onwards the road was not in a good condition. "Thal" is a major area near before kumrat which is also a junction point for going to Jaz Banda. We chose the "Kumrat Way"

After travelling continously for around 20 hrs reached Kumrat Forest's entrance

Kumrat Mela had just ended 3-4 days ago. KP govt in order to promote tourism in this newly opened tourist place had organized a Mela. A temporary tent village has been erected near the forest entrance glimpses of which can be seen here

You can see a car in this pic but its better not to take cars there. Better to leave them at Thal and hire jeep from there. We had a hiace which finally made it to the forest but i will not recommend doing that too

Camping sites have been erected at various places inside the forest. Normal charges range from 1000 to 2000 per night in such camps. Temporary washrooms have also been established. These camps have been made normally of metal sheets. When we move ahead in the forest towards Kumrat Abshar (Waterfall) just short of it a guy from Abbotabbad has erected fibre huts which have accomodation for two people with attached bathrooms and warm water. He charges 6500/- per night. He is a nice old guy with a lot of stories to tell. One of the stories among many he told was that he had travelled from Sweden to Pakistan in his own sports car One more thing You can make free calls any where across pak from here using baba jees PTCL wireless. No netwrks work there ..
