Bullet 350 Weighs around 180kgs.It is "BIG" Compared to Indian or Japanese Bikes which may weigh from 110kgs to 160kgs maximum.Big Tyres and the "Dug Dug" Sound(optional fitting BSA Goldstar silencer for more sound!) or "Thump" is addicting for Many.

Royal Enfield Redditch,England became defunct during 1968 or so after jap bikes flooding european and american market.Machineries from Redditch were all sold to Indian Owners of Enfiled(Madras Motors).But ,Bullets are sold till 1994 as "Enfield" Bullet.that is- without "Royal" .after that Eicher India(A Truck/Bus Manufacturer ) bought Enfield from Madras Motor co.Also ,Eicher bought the trademark legally as "Royal Enfield" .
So ,Royal Enfield is Now a Indian Owned British Thumper.

One of the last models Royal Enfield England Produced during end of 1960s is a V-Twin Called "Interceptor".It is rumoured that Royal Enfield will Launch this Bike few years later as a retro style motorcycle.

They have models much better for International(Europe,America especially) range.Bullet Classic with 500cc EFI(Electronic Fuel Injected) Bike is something Great to Own!

Well ,Royal Enfield is One of the Most maintance needed Bike in India! :P:D This is a 70 year old Model with same push rod engine and Cast Iron Cylinder(In India).Bullet Electra is Also the Same Cast Iron Engined Standard 350 with CDI Ignition,Nitrox Shocks,Self starter.Electra 4S is exact as standard model with right side gear shift and comes with that very old "neutral finder lever".While Electra 5S is having gear shift on left side as normal Bikes have.Old Model Standard 350 still works on Point-breaker technology! and it is the only model still in production consecutively for 60 years!.

Diesel Bullets were there from way back in 1960's when Some People experimented loading Lombardiini Diesel Pump set into Enfield Chassis!But during 1990 or so Enfield India Launched "Enfield Taurus" Diesel Engine Which can give Mileage of 70kmpl!.Old Diesel Bullets also sounded great.But Vibrations,Maintanence and all Very High.

Enfield ThunderBird Twinspark is a Cruiser Like Bullet(?) available in India.

Royal Enfield is soon launching UCE 500 Bullets in India.This is speculated to cost from 1.4lakhs Indian rupees to 2lakhs!.

Bullet is something Emotional which is Why People Keeps it.If you Go To Punjab(Indian state) or in South , Kerala(Malabar) ,You Will see Die-Hard fans Who spends 1-2lakhs of Rupees on this Old Thumper!

Since I owned One ,I can say that touring in this Motorcycle is just a great experience.No Sudden Pickup and all;Just slowly it will climb to 100kmph.
I am sure ,Old England made Bullets are there in pakistan as well.as those English made Thumpers were famous all over South Asia during olden times.

History of Royal Enfield(1896) is as Old as Harley Davidson too.In USA ,Royal Enfield Motorcycles were sold during the Old Days re-badged as Another Famous Brand called "Indian". Indian was another Old Brand Whose Motorcycles are Famous.Remember the movie : "World's fastest Indian".Indian(as in red indians ,I guess) was a American Brand.

This is the Royal Enfield Standard 350.In Production from 1940s.Still is a Old School Push Rod Engine.Long Stroke Engine-Perfect for Long Rides.Kick Starting a Bullet(without self starter) is a Art!Engine Oil 20W50 is to be changed Every 2000-2500kms and it is Strictly Mineral Oils this Old Guy Needs. Bullets Needs adjustment of Tappets after say 5000kms or So.All parts are simpler compared to New Models.Moreover ,Gear Box is separate in most Models!.Gear Box needs separate Oil!.Stanadrd 350 Bullet Got Cast Iron Bore with Aluminium Head.It is Air Cooled.Air Cooled Single Cylinder Bikes are Called Thumpers.Bullet Standard 350cc Will Gracefully Retire on end 2010 ,Since It may not be able to pass BS-IV pollution control passed.

Bullets are used By Army,Police although these Motorcycles are Not Sprinters like Pulsar or Apache's.Bullet is Supposed to be the Very Few Bike Which can Cross Rajasthan Desert Sector in Hot Conditions.Bullets are Preferred Touring Bikes for Foreigners as Well as Indians to Even Remotest Tourist Destinations of India like Leh-Ladakh and Himalayas to Coastal Kerala. Royal Enfield motorcycles certainly carry a very special charm and nostalgia that overcomes its many drawbacks. It has obsolete technology, it is underpowered (for the size), heavy and unreliable, still if it is offered in Pakistan probably I will buy one, just for the heck of it.

BTW way back in 1979 I saw some bikes branded as "Indian Enfield". What happened to that brand?

@khanmomar:You are true in most points said.But ,Current Breed of Unit Construction Engine(UCE)'d Bullets like Thunderbird and Electra Models are said to be Most Modern in Technology with Electronic Fuel Injection as well.But the charm of Old standard 350 is uncomparable.
BTW ,In olden times all these Single Cylinder Bikes looked and shared the same technology.In India there were BSAs,Nortons,Triumphs,Indian,Matchless/AJS,James,Vincent,Velocette Like Many Models were Available.Europeans Collected these old Bikes from 1960s to their country.That is How the Numbers are Very Less.My Bullet Mechanic,Still Remembers the Nortons and Matchless's He used to work with.
While Italian Beauties(Scooters!) like LAMBRETTA,VESPA(Collaboration with Bajaj during 1960s) were Now History .These Scooters are also Now Collector's Item.

Ofcourse ,Triumphs or Nortons are Similar or Better than Royal Enfield.But ,There is Some Element Which Prompted Army to Rely on Royal Enfield Bullets than other Thumpers.

Bullet was a purpose build motorbike. During the WW UK motorcycle factories were churning out BSA M20s (the largest selling bike at that time) to Triumph 500SV Twin, Matchless came up with a modest G-80 and later with G3L S (with swing suspension) which earned a reputation among the dispatch riders. Bullet was Royal Enfield's response to the growing demand for motorcycles. The small company went beyond borders with the inception of Bullet. Notwithstanding these advancements, in terms of performance rating, the earlier models were far superior. For the past 6 years or more, I am trying to convince an acquantaince to let go the two babes, a 1931 Royal Enfield three wheeler and a very appealing single (not bullet) one bike is street legal (with papers) while the other was never registered. As if I care. These bikes are not meant to be driven like the daily runners anyways.
The earlier bullets had a manufacturing fault - the rocker shaft lacked an adjustment screw. It was typical of an enfield bullet to start producing skeweky sounds even during the initial running. The fault has been removed in the recent models but the bike no longer looks classic - I was much disappointed to see the most recent model. Dis brakes, bench seats, modern instruments etc, thats just not the bullet I could relate to. Well you can still order one in classic shape in the UK but, it would cost you Pound Stg. 6 500 ex factory
