Old British Cast Iron Engined Royal Enfield production stopped in December 2009 and sales was over by 2010 mid. The newer Royal Enfields have a Unit Construction Long Stroke Engine that mimick the old one's Thud Thud sound. It is OK. But, yes Royal Enfield is a high maintanence bike. It is used by tourists, long distance riders (Kashmir-Kanyakumari or Bombay-Shillong or Calcutta-Madras-Trivandrum etc). Now that Triumph and other British marques are getting ready their thumpers (single engine), may be RE will lose some sales. Still, the motorcycle is exported much.
