A while back, i wanted to have a "pure" car, with no stupid luxuries or electronics, just me, a engine, and the road, and RWD.
mainly to develop my skills as a driver (rally, off road,on road, trail braking etc) and as a beater/fun car,and must be extremely light.
so after some research i found a common design, one i could easily use.
its called a caterham, made in the uk as lightweight sports cars. the max level one costs about 50,000 pounds and can outperform a veyron.
back on topic.
i am going to use the caterham design, with a roll cage, and try to achive the best performance possible while keeping the price down (under 1.5 lak)
the chassis frame etc i can handle, will have it locally fabricated, and all axles etc will be cast iron/aluminum alloy, made by myself.
its the engine that im confused about.
im thinking of going for a cultus engine, but dont know how much it would cost.
with a total..predicted weight of about 300kg a power to weight ratio of
45KW/300kg= .15, which is VERY good, given that the swift has a ratio of .11
and also i need a little advice on the suspension and brakes. i was thinking of just using a air filled hydro jack, in a steel coil/spring around it. on brakes...mechanical handbrake can be handled by me, but for the normal ones im considering using a pair of old discs or drums from a mehran/cultus.
differential will also be handled by me
also i am confused about what to do for the drive shaft to the rear wheels. i might just use a chain, or if anything else is better that you guys know of..... please tell me.
all basic electronics will also be handled by me, like speedometers and gauges, and the starting battery etc etc.. i have some microcontoller experience
looking forward to your input.
thanks in advance.
(on a side note, i will be doing this over a period of time (about a year) so if i dont reply for a while, its because either my exams are going on, or i havent made any progress)
