@Xulfiqar bhai need an immediate assistance. I have a civic 2005 vti manual transmission (d16w9). I have this car with me since november 2014 and has been a very good & reliable car throughout. The car has clocked more than 160,000 kms recently.
However, since buying this vehicle, i took a risk by not changing the timing belt and took chances. Ultimately, upon the recommendations of many friends and relatives, I had decided to get the timing belt replaced. I did not have a trustworthy mechanic and therefore chose to get it done from honda dealership. All the 3s dealerships had apologised and refused to service my car since it is quite old. There was a 2s dealer who agreed to do the job only if i could arrange for the genuine parts myself. I bought the entire timing belt kit from a honda 1s dealer:
genuine timing belt
timing bearing
timing seals
tappet cover gasket
During november 2018, I went to the 2s dealer with the parts I had purchased. The staff started working on my car and soon got all the parts out. The timing belt required the changing but the tensioner and seals seemed fine. Despite pressurising them to change the tensioner, they fully assured me that it would be a waste of money to change this and should be returned. They did identify a leak in my waterbody and changed that. I got the entire job done right infront of my eyes.
Since the very day this job was done, I ended up with an intermittent fault - Warm engine cranking / turning issues. I stopped for a fuel up after a 30 min drive and when tried to start the car, it didnt turn it all. Seemed as if the battery was weak. after 4-5 tries, it did crank normally and the car started normally. Since then, I have faced this problem quite frequently, but it never shows up when i take the car to the dealership. cold startup is always fine but hot engine startup causes trouble. the starter dies and turns very weakly or doesnt turn at all for 5-6 attempts.
It had become a nuisance, so I got my battery checked and it showed full health. visited my electrician last week who insisted on servicing the starter motor. I let him do it. The bushings had worn off & were repaired and the carbon body was changed. I had mentioned infront of my electrician that this problem emerged since the timing belt change. Despite the repair, the problem didn't resolve. I called the electrician back and he blamed all of it on the timing belt and the water body installation. according to him, the timing belt has been incorrectly installed and has probably skipped a tooth or two. I went back to honda with this logic and they said that the starter motor is faulty and is unable to turn the engine when warm and also said that the engine becomes a bit stiff after timing belt / waterbody change for some time and if a tooth were skipped then the drive and performance would have badly deteriorated. the honda people blamed the starter and the solenoid in particular since it is not serviceable.
Please guide me here. pretty worried about this. the engine doesn't crank / move freely when hot / warm since the timing belt / waterbody replacement. should i get the timing belt reinspected or should i get the starter motor changed?
