We have plan a trip to kaghan valley this july. Here from pakwheel forum I came to know about Sharan Valley. I need to know further information about it.
Where it is?
How to reach there estimated time?
What are major attractions there?
Approachable via car?
Hotels /resorts available for night stay?
Suitable for family tour?

i am also planing for sharan forests in start of aug. it is just in mind not a sure plan.

anyways, it is across the river a path leads to sharan forests from parus i think.
it is 4X4 jeep trail in start.
many years before perhaps a decade before, sharan was just an isolated spot with plenty of hardwood trees, and a forest rest house and nothing else

The road to Sharan starts from Paras and its a purely jeepable track. There is a single forest house or a couple of rest houses and thats it. But the place in itself is very calm, wonderful and enriched with deep forest. You are fond of camping and tracking then this place will definitely please you.

U Can Park Ur Vehicl at Paras
If U Have Jeep Or 4x4 than go for Youth Hostel Sharan Or forest house parking

I visited Sharan in 2007.Its a jeepable trek starting from Paras & end at Forest rest house (which is demolished by earth quake of 2005) so is the youth hostel.But its a lovely place for camping.small stream is passing by & from this point u can also do trek for nadi banglow.
but take food stuff, warm clothes along as there will be nothing available at sharan top.

It will take a few years if you park your car in Paris and then head for Sharan

yes u can park your cars in Paras bazar or any hotel in paras.
hire a jeep from there which will either drop you at sharan forest rest house.
if you want to camp over night at paras than ask the jeep wala to pick u again next day at any decided time.
other wise u can even make it a one day trip.leave paras in the morining & come back in the evening.but i will recommend you an over night stay in camp, pice & calm jungle.and in the morning walk around the area.a small top near th rest house is known as sabzazar..its a green pleatue on the highest place of Sharan.
Weather of sharan is cold.height is equal to the height of shogran.so take warm clothes,food,stove for cooking,sleeping bag,ground sheet & camp as well.
If you got a weapon like pistol or shot gun..take it along...Although I camp there with my family wife & kids & place is totaly save from bandits..but after all its a jungle so safety first.

thanxalot 4 info provided. I was luckily able to contact Sharan youth hostel incharge. He said (Paras-Sharan) road is closed since flood. He advised us not to visit at this point of time i.e. Winter. So we have droped the idea of Sharan. Now looking for further options.

the way to sharan is open now or yet it is closed,.....

anybody can give info or any phone number to get info of that region...

about trekks there r two important trekks here
1- Musa Ka Musallah (4080 m)
2-dana meadows trek.

but both r advisable in summers

no wildlife here except birds and small animals like jackles etc. no worries here. at least i havent experienced or heard any incident involving a predatory animal here.

According to my knowledge and according to locals there is a large concentration of Snow Leopard and black Bear in Kaghan Valley especially in Sharan, Mahandri, Makra sides and Kach pass side areas.
I have a freind who have seen a black bear in Dadar valley from the top of Saran Pass nera Malik-e-parbat.
Another freind of mine have seen a Snow Leoperd in trek of Ansoo lake.
So i think one should not deny the presence of these animals in such areas.
