Sleeper Alto Swap M13A-VVT

I will be sharing the details of engine swap in my Alto PKDM 2001. The engine which I have already swapped is M13A. I know this sound ridiculous and not so practical but it has been done before you can check out this link https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/t/alto-engine-swap-m13a-swift-engine-installation/248064.

Now why did I select M13 for the swap? My previous engine was K10A also swapped which is a DOHC 1.0 4 Cyl engine which was a bolt on swap this particular engine had good fuel consumption 14km in Karachi city with Air Con but it lacked the grunt which I needed reason I was moving from a Starlet which had a 4efe.

Now every one please bear in mind this swap is not bolt on and major alterations were done to swap this engine. I will be sharing my experience of this successful swap in this thread.

Alterations which were made are as follows
Brake Booster Swap
Chassis Reinforcement and Modifications
Custom Mounting Plates for Foundations
Custom Strut Bar

New Engine M13A

Very nice swap actually.
Share what you planned for chassis reinforcement.
Make mounting brackets and nut bolt it with the chassis or weld it.
Only tie bar wouldn't be enough. Reinforce the location which control arm bolts on.
Alto already go a sway bar/anti roll bar.
Reinforce the strut towers then install strut bar.
Reinforce the wall behind the wheels. It starts cracking. Recently welded our alto's.

Chassis reinforcement basically included reinforcement of walls and T shaped strut/tie bar at the bottom of the car, sorry I mistakenly wrote upgraded the sway bar.

All three mounts are bolted no welding of mounts on the chassy.

Great.
Don't make a T shape bar. It will roll as well. Weld 2 bars near the edges and nut bolt it under the firewall.

Interesting, with all that extra hp id be concerned about safety, have you upgraded brakes, rotors etc. More importantly safety for the driver in case of a catastrophic event. there aren’t enough crumple zones here, and these things roll over just by overtaking.

Brake booster was upgraded with four independent fuel lines, I have the stock brake rotors which have ample stopping power. Roll over issue has been completely addressed by installing custom tie/strut bar and by also upgrading the front shockers which are stiffer then the original OEMs.

Though I have in mind to upgrade the brakes to 4wheel disc brakes as soon as I can find them locally.

K10A is superior to k6 any day in term of performance and economy the only issue with K10A is that they are very rare to find thus no spare parts support in comparison with K6.

Checking the engine in the engine bay.

Alterations were med on the tranny side to support the new tranny mounts on the chassy.

I have no idea about k10b but they haven't been swapped by any one in Pakistan and I believe the only reason is the immobilizer which can be cracked but for some reason no one has swapped the K10b. In the beginning my engine choice was k10b and R06A but I didn't swap because I couldn't find any info for swapping these engines.

Yes I thought the same, but I can confirm this swap cant be done without alterations nothing is bolton as far as your swapping M13A auto. Even if you go and check the old thread you can see that car chassis was stretched a bit to accommodate the engine, but some how the thread opener kept on saying that it was a bolton.

how long u kept k10a and what issues u faced during its maintanance cant k10 b parts used on k10 a?

Mount plates were custom built to accommodate the engine and tranny old Alto foundation were used on the timing and on the tranny which were further strengthened by enforcing hard rubber. The rear mount was of swift and was also bolted to the chassy.
