Smog in Lahore

As per Ms Zartaj Gul, the country's leading expert on environmental science, the smog issue in Lahore is far less than that in many other countries. Lahore is a beautiful city and these fake news of Lahore being 2nd in air pollution are just attempts to defame our beautiful city!

She also stated that we shouldn't look at western measures to detect air pollution, as they are biased against Pakistan. Whenever they take measurements from Lahore, they take it at peak traffic rush time and stand behind silencers of vans and buses. We only rely on our very own Suparco office which clearly states that 80% responsibility of smog in Lahore lies with India while we are just 20% responsible.

The day before yesterday, smog was so bad that it came inside the house even with windows closed. Next time if it happens, and you have patients or infants in house, wear N95 mask. Also it may seem funny but its worth spray water from a spray bottle in your room. This will drastically reduce the PM2.5 particles suspended in air.

Stubble burning in full swing on M3 today. Any claims of controlling stubble burning are completely false.

Also this is not India. Ironically even the wind direction was eastward.

I was just going to post the same pics i took while coming back to home Lahore from my home town and saw these precisely after Nankana Interchange onwards towards Lahore M3 .... These are particularly rice field crop after harvesting being burned out and main cause of smog in Lahore and surrounding suburbs. It is very dangerous as the micron size cannot be filtered out with human nose filteration system.

Now a days the machines used to harvest the rice crops in india and pak in this season. The smoke due to this remains low so this is the main cause agrevating the situation from the last three plus years in these particular days.....

AQI again in ‘hazardous’ category in Lahore today. Air is so bad that I can smell the smoke even indoors and chest constantly feels heavy. Cant even imagine how the children must be feeling or what its doing to their long-term health.
Saw dozens of burning fields again today while travelling and bhattas all going at full speed. Thick blanket of smoke all the way from south punjab to Lahore.
Took some pictures but feels pointless posting them. Who even cares at this point.
