We awarded contract of our house in spetember 2017 at Rs.270 per sq ft

Tajamml bro we are nearly finished with plasters.

Before ramzan we have plan to put kachha in basement. kacha of complete concrete without steel rebars is planned. There will be no gera or bricks before concrete. it will be 2 to 3 inch thick.

Now here we have an issue. In rainy season floor tend to have water from earth. Though we are digging a 5 ft deep dewatering pit below basement level.

Now, please advise whether we should put steel rebars or mix some chemical in concrete to make floor water proof.

One more advise, in this watery situation is it advisable to put tiles or shall we stick to good old marble.?

My 2nd Question is pls guide me about gas pipes PPRC (Yellow). My plumber told me to use popular PPRC pipes made of Popular company instead of using PPRC (yellow ) for gas connections because it is too brittle and will be break easily.

pls guide me. Also i want my gas plumbinng to be exposed so that i may resolve leakage problem if any and my plumber says put these pipes Concealed. i am abit confused.

Dear ,
Try to avoid PPRC/any sanitary pipe laying in floor. Plumber will say this definitely because, his labor will be saved. Plumber have to make jhari inside wall for pipe laying, where as in floor, no hard-work for him. So dont go for it, aisa he hota huga is dangerous sentence, avoid it.

Lay pipes only and only from walls not in floors at all. So that tomorrow when you will face any problem (God Forbidden) , rectification in wall is quite easy as compared to of floor and will have low cost as well.

Dear,
1- PPRC pipes have to be concealed always, they are not designed for open atmosphere. So burry it no issue. If you are in fear of leakage, then why you keep pipes in bath room under tiles? they also can be leak at any time.

2- You can use Master Yellow PPRC pipe for gas installation. Now days, SNGPL using it even as main pipe for residential colonies, so if SNGPL can use, then you can also use it.

If there is seepage source, no matter you use tile or marble, it will come out in any case.

W.r.t asked question about rebar/chemical, I dont have any experience dear Sarmad. Might be other members can guide you in this regard.

@tajammal84 which shuttering is better, Steel plates or Ply wood? any disadvantage of ply wood shuttering?

Steel plate is better if its available in your area, it gives good finishing and less cement consumed if you go with plaster option. Ply shuttering gives below average finishing and surface is also non-smooth from all places, water leakage during concrete pouring is also high in ply shuttering.

Just contracted out main gates work to some local company (not to local welders) in Islamabad.

Rate of gate for the design selected is Rs.750 per sq ft.

From research came to know few points regarding sliding gates:

1) Channel that is grouted in the floor on which gate drags should be of suitably wider diameter. Local welders put thin angle iron as channel to save costs which makes it very hard to drag the gate.

2) Diameter of wheels must be proportionate to the size and weight of gate and must have double bearings in it for long life and smooth flow.

3) Louvre type designs in sliding gates are considerably cheaper (at around Rs.600 - Rs.650 per sq ft)and are long lasting as louvers are placed at angles water tend to flow out of them instead of getting stuck like in pipe wala design gate.

4) Proper weight distribution in gate design is mandatory for gate to flow smoothly on its channel.

Also did a preliminary research on upvc windows.

Upvc even chinese one more costly than good aluminum.

After chinese Upvc come the turkish one which is approximately 30% more costly form chinese one

Chinese tend to fade out its color and deform after excessive exposure to sun.

As of now, local manufacturing of fittings for upvc windows hasnt started yet, so fittings are nice in quality as compared to aluminum ones.

Pakistan cable is costly just because of high marketing campaign and extra taxes. You can go for New Age Cables or Fast Cables or English Cables.

Bro, dont save on wires get reputable brand and try to get it from company outlet. These reputable companies have more proportion of copper in their cables.
