Tips for Basement Construction
-Basement cost on an average is 25-30% of total construction cost
- No issue if the main sewerage system is at ground floor, you need to construct an sewage collection pit and do make rough plaster inside pit with zero no chips. Pump will be installed inside the pit (sewage collection area) and shall be electrically powered via an lower level control switch. This means when there will be minimum level e.g. 30% pump will start running automatically and will shift sludge material or water from pit to main sewerage put at ground floor. An UPS power may be supplied to pump connection too if required.
-W.r.t basement walls (regardless of RCC or bricks), plaster outer wall, employ bituflex coating on outer side and finally cover all outer walls with high quality polythene then finally refill space with soil, by this way IA, seepage wont come.
-W.r.t basement floor, adopt same way and if you have high seepage complain in that area, go for 0 No chips on floor after bituflex coating before tile work, i.e. once kacha floor prepared, employ bituflex then 0 no chips then on top of that tile work, but remember, this is costly option in terms of money but in terms of reliability, its very long lasting and have no troubles at all.
- Keep basement well ventilated by providing air passages in open area sides, in this case you have to keep open area passage lower than basement walls.
