Bricks are better than blocks in case of home construction. Blocks are hollow and usually used in commercial building where structure is column based rather of load bearing.

I've been reading this forum and our house has a similar problem what highroller described above. Cracks have been developed on the roof usually where there is a wall underneath. The roof seeps. Lentel was brick tile one. I'm not an expert to be honest. Here's what happened:

1. House built 30 years ago. Cracks were developed in the roof after some time (don't remember exactly when as I was too young then).
2. Father hired the same contractor who built the house. He made a layer of cement + bajri (concrete) above the old surface. Don't know if they did anything to the old surface.
3. Cracks developed again.
4. Hired some other person who filled those gaps with tar (black luk) after making grooves (charri).
5. Black luk turned hard with time and came out leaving cracks behind even wider. It's been like this for 8, 9 years.

@tajammal84 bhai the solid concrete blocks which are not hollow ones, can be used in home or room construction OR not?
Secondly, I heard that Seepage does not Occur in Blocks. It appears in bricks only. What are your comments on it?

As far I know there is no solid concerte block, if there is any such thing it will more costly and will pose extra load on overall structure too.

Thats not true w.r.t bricks, seepage depends upon multiple factors. A block or brick neither can stop it nor escalate it.

Blocks are not safe for house construction. Use only bricks. Blocks are good for temporary storage room purpose but not for entire home.
And seepage does not occur in brick walls until there is a source. Whereas exposed bricks are suppose to absorb moisture.

Yes there are no solid concrete blocks. Even hollow one are hard to handle. Coz concrete blocks are quite heavy too

Not recommended for entire house construction. There will be too many complications.
With blocks either hollow or solid you can build your house boundary walls.

I had really bad experience with machine made bricks. Look wise they are attractive, uniform size. But under load they break like glass. Plastering was another challange because of its smooth surface. And during rainy season it absorbs water and paint inside started chipping. Then i plastered the outer surface and painted with weather shield. So overall it was worst experience.

Dear,
Have seen the pictures. Please follow the following steps;
1. Remove all old filled material to the max possible extent
2. Make material with 0 number chips and fill the channels by pouring chips (0 Number) material
3. Chips shall be filled till roof level.
4. If required later on an water proofing chemical layer may be deployed at top of chips, but it woul dnot be required.

What if the top layer of concrete is removed first upto the tile level and then lay the tiles again with sand (mitti) to make a proper slope so that water flows away during rain.

Another suggestion was made to first do as above but put marble on the top.

I'm just worried if the fault is with the lentel, cracks might appear again.. then what...

Third option might be to do chemical treatment. Not sure if the chemical can seal up this bigger gaps.

If roof condition is v v poor then you can re deploy tiles in proper way. If you afford then marble is good and long lasting solution.

Chemical is an 50/50 situation, u cant be 100%sure as PK is full of wrong advertisements and commitments. It may be successful or may not be. Marle is ultimate and v good solution no doubt but even for that you need v professional team from installation till slop and final polish too. If roof is weak, then marble polish to be done with small machine or roof integrity will be compromised.

What things to keep in mind, how to keep the structure n walls safe, and cost? Say of a 7 marla house.

Unfortunately, that link is quite old.. and people there do not seem to have the required knowledge or skills. Replies like it will cause damage, it will be messy etc ...

construction has become quite modern.. so I'm checking if anyone has any ideas or experience.. within PAK... because outside it is not an issue

For better plaster finish we should use mix of thick and thin sand. 70% thick and 30% thin sand. In this way there is alot less chances of having voids. It is termed as minimum void method.
