Suggest Bike for Long Routes and Hilly areas

At a NATGEO Program, I saw a foreign biker on some indian pass.. with a sophisitcated heavy bike as they have for off roading... He was stuck and a man was pushing his bike...

So It was a sigh of relief for me... That if that off-road machine can stuck... tou meri bechari CG ka kia qasoor ha...

Weight of the bike is a liability on the mountains but a stabilising factor on highways. I would prefer a GS over the lighter 2 strokes on paved roads. The lighter bikes should be driven at lower speeds. I would feel comfortable driving them at around 65km/hr.

Regarding comfort I feel any bike is more comfortable than 4 spd CG125 at 60kph or above, as it shakes terribly. The 5 speed version is much better.

BTW I feel bikes should not be driven on highways in Pakistan at all as it has become too rowdy and dangerous. I take my bike in bus/train and start driving on mountains. Now I am thinking of getting a bike trolley to attach to my car.

no doubt CG shakes alot at high speeds, the very first bike i owned was KH 100 kawasaki 1977 model, 5 speed.. that pleasure of that bike still rest in core of my heart and i have visited malamjabba and kaghan using that old bike in my starting years of awaragardi... that bike was the most relaxing and reliable in my all biking life..

you are right that we can enjoy off roading or on roading on different machines but , isnt there any machine that can work well on both tracks i.e. mud tracks and paved roads.

it is just for information for those who are going to get some machine, i am not intended to get such a machine now. for me, 125 GUZARA KAR HI JATA HAI...

Yes there are such machines which work well on both surfaces i.e dirt and pavement. These are called dual sport bikes and are available from 125cc to 1200cc. Some are more road oriented and some are more dirt inclined. Unfortunately these are hard to find in our country where general trend of the manufacturers is towards street bikes and of importers towards sports bikes. Few of these machines available here are either too old or too expensive.

Well I m 6"1 and my weight is 87 KG.That's y i m considering comfort factor which may not be achieved by light bikes.
Rana sahab what are your thoughts abt it?
if we compare toughness of Suzuki and cg 125 in terms of parts which bike is more reluctant??

I am not against any particular brand and dont want to start a brand fight but I have been going all over the country and passes over 15000 ft on my Suzuki GS150 and it never missed a beat. Not even a puncture yet. Unless u can lay ur hands on a proper dual sport, this is the bike u should seriously consider for ur intended use. The other bike that I recommend is Honda CG 125 Deluxe preferably 5 speed.

Note: GS 150 seat is hard and its weight can be an issue for a person new to bike riding.
