you think that is dirty - my car's fuel tank filter was packed with nastiness - enough for the engine to lose about half its power. Its a diesel bathing ordeal to service that. I also had to remove and flush the tank afterwards.
btw - points to take care of.
1 - battery - respect it, diesels take huge amps to crank, if your tool touches the terminals - it will vaporise in seconds - the battery had enough juice in it. btw - its the wronge side battery for your car anyway, get a proper one and make sure you prep it with distilled water + lab grade acid. Or buy an imported branded battery capable of pushing out 700CCA.
2 - never shove a tap water pipe into a hot engine cooling system - you can crack the head. Use hot water.
btw the correct method to flush is to first drain all coolant and then remove the thermostat, now fill up with water and flush (Citric acid is best and cheapest) - 10% strength. fill up and start engine - drive around for half hour to get the liquid everywhere, drain and flush for 10 minutes - from heater pipes and radiator pipes.
this is easy maintenance - and for using a new filter, fill it up with diesel correctly - out to centre - do not pour into the centre. Always change it on a hot engine to ensure quick startup again. The fuel filter being new will make for a very free moving car, when its blocked - your acceleration vanishes and also lose km/lit as the pump cannot pressurize its advance capsule at the required rate.
