Got installed in 2022 for 45k, worked well except few hiccups, changed thermostat once & refilled AC gas once.
In hindsight, I would have preferred a brand-new Chinese compressor over Honda life compressor. Just add another 25k & install all new setup. Honda life compressor is really good, however with used parts you don't know what's coming your way.

Anyone experiencing erratic idle? I just clocked around 14k on my alto vx. Bought brand new in 2022, I have had no work done other than oil changes and air filter. (Using 0w20). After driving for a while, I feel the engine rev unnecessarily when either I've slowed down or am in 1st gear, sometimes, I don't even have to press the accelerator when letting go of the clutch. Just revving unnecessarily at slow speeds. Usually happens when I come home (as in when car is comepletely warmed up and rad fan has turned off and on several times through the trip.

Fuel economy is 14kmpl when my parents drive, we only drive with ac, no idea what fuel economy is without ac. When I drive extremely fuel consciously with excessive coasting and engine braking, I get 17-17.8kmpl. I've reset the thingy multiple times, started using high octane, but fuel economy is very poor. IMO

Car is used daily with exception of weekends. Drives 5kms round trip. Any leads/ideas?

Alto has electronic TB and RPM is controlled by ECU compensating for any additional load. yes when AC is turned on the RPM do slightly incrase and can reach upto 950 to 1000.

Regarding the fuel economy, if you use it for very short trips, grocery runs and household chores, driving in 1st , 2nd and 3rd gears then max you can get it 16/17 km to a liter.

however if you take it longer journeys, keeping it in top gear and no hard pushing it can return you up 26/27 with AC on all the time.

I got it done from a place that my dealership referred me to. They installed a sander unit. Everything was new besides the compressor.

Yes that increase in idle is normal and even then barely noticeable. Sometimes after a trip, when radiator fan is engaging and disengaging (when car is upto temp) the rpm noticeably rises. From the sound of it, it goes up to 1500-2300 very easily, when either idling or in first gear. There have been times I just let go of the clutch in first gear and the car began accelerating on its own.

Will using high octane have any effect? I do use 4th, and 5th when my speed crosses 50kmph and very light footed, but even with all that I get 18kmpl. My parents driving is a little more hard, so they get 11-14

at 1400kms does my car need any preventative and periodic maintenance.

i believe you need to revisit the AC installer and let him know about the unusual increase in RPM, as the RPM is controlled through ECU there is no manual way to adjust it, let him re confirm the installation especialy related to increase in RPM when AC is turned on.

You can also attach OBD scanner and check for any codes.

As i mentioned earlier, 18 Km/l is okay for very short trips.

11-14 km/l is evident is that car is being operated in low grea1-3 mostly.

You can check the service manual for maintenace schedule, i believe there was one @ 1000 km which is basically general check up, not a maintenace thing.

hi , Just Read your msg and wanted to let you know that solar tints do have a mercury effect. So they are noticeable. I have 3M on my car i.e. crystalline series 5% tint as thats the lowest 3M offers and they are almost indistinguishable. The heat rejection is very very good. I have it on both my cars. spect 35k on it in 2022.

Hay Salman, let me know if you're asking for the alto? Last I checked. The xqd1000 was around 25k and the 1200pro is close 40k. But I can check. Otherwise, the nakamichi 5510 is also a great option. I have a almost brand new one 4-64 which I'll probably sell off if someone seriously wants it

Any engine oil suggestions? I have been using Suzuki's OEM oil SGO 0w20. I want to shift to a different brand. I was thinking liquimoly that but that seems like overkill for a regular normie car. Any brand suggestions? Budget isn't an issue, I need something good quality because I intend to keep this car for at least the foreseeable future.

Any 0W-20 API SP will work. Get the cheapest fully synthetic option available.

I am using 0w20 od liqui moly in my Alto and if you follow the 10 k change interval with oil filter change at 5k. Its slightly cheaper than the oem oil. Also you get confidence of using a high grade oil that dissolves impurities better and has better cleaning power than the base oem oils. It's all about the additives. Also counterfeit oil industry is also a reason one should go for a trusted imported oil and a trusted shop imo.

Alto has a very small oil sump and running oils for 10k+ kms intervals will cause trouble if not in short term but will definitely do in the long term.

Havoline Pro ds 0w20 is one of the best oils you can get in the market for Alto and change at 7500-8000kms.
Its a proper company import product and comes with 100% verifiable authenticity.

The concept of draining oils after 10 or 15k kms is applicable for cars with larger oil sump capacity.

Also using Liqui Moli and the likes with a cheapo air filter will be of no use.

Have been using ecstar 0w-20 with alto. The manufacturer claim is that this can be safely run upto 20k Kms. i have increased the drain interval gradualy from 5000 to 8000KM. at 5000 the viscosity was almost same as new oil and tester showed good health. so even at 8000 altough the color is darker but the oil shows good health and i think i will not increae the drain interval from 8000Kms, its like the break even point with respect to cost and economy. Dark color means that the detergents are working well and cleaning the deposits efficiently, look and feel, smell and health should be okay

There is absolutely no way to check the oil condition without a lab test.
These methods of smell, colour, rubbing on hand etc which mechanics use is a very very crude method and atleast i have never believed in it.

20k kms drain interval on a 2.7 litre oil sump is definitely asking for disaster sooner or later whereas a 20k kms drain interval for a 30L oil sump capacity (a commercial haul truck) is just a routine or even too early for an oil change.
