No matter what the oil, I will be changing at 4200kms. I change before time just because I want the inside of the engine to be cleaner.

Havoline Pro ds 0w20 is one of the best oils you can get in the market for Alto and change at 7500-8000kms.Its a proper company import product and comes with 100% verifiable authenticity.

Omg I really wanted to go for this, but it only comes in 4L cans. So I ended up going for a German oil (addinol) instead of liquimoly.

What are reviews on addinol?

Lab test would be an extreme measure for checking oil performance or health on an alto, although the lab test also start with comparing the sample color with that of fresh oil, any unusual smell as burnt smell might indicate towards overheating, visual contaminations, metallic debri , slug particles etc. These indications can provide fair idea about oil condition to make a reasonable judgment, Another telltale sign is the engine noise and performance after the oil change, if u r feeling a minute improvement in performance and decrease in engine noise then the oil change was due. else u could have driven a few hundred Kms more. Anyways, it all depend upon personal judgment, i wont go for CRP labs for a simple fever, instead will start panadol.

There is also a method I have seen people use. It's not very definitive but helps. There should be no denaturing of the oil while in use. Denaturing can happen with mixing of fuel/ water/ moisture over time. Color is important but so is the lubricity.
The method in question is as follows: If we take a drop of oil in from dipstick and put it in between the index finger and the thumb and press as hard as we can and try to rub the thumb with finger using the oil as the lubricant. The fingers should glide smoothly and not stick or have friction. If there is any friction then its a cause for worry. I check both my cars this way and the lubricity is there.

By this definition all our mechanic brothers must have it. Also adding to your precautionary advice, hot engine oil also burns the skin so yeah, keep that in mind too

There are thousands of Pakistani Alto AGS on the roads since 2019 with many crossing 100k kms mark. There has been no major complaints.

And 5+ years is a sufficient amount of time for the problems to arise given the level of maintainance we do to our cars.

Just be a little mindful in 2nd gear at slow speed where the clutch slips by design and it will give you no problems.

Salam, guys. I am planning to purchase a 2019-20 Alto AGS and I am looking for low mileage cars (40-50K driven).

Are there any OEM recommended maintenance/parts replacement around that mileage that I need to be wary off? Also are there any known issues that I need to inspect for apart from usual inspection?

PS: Would love if there is a PDF available for owner's manual.

km & time interval of 5 years. Then you’ll know the oem parts to be checked.
If AGS delay gear change or make a clutch type noise on gear change. ask owner to change AGS actuator hydraulic fluid & 75w transmission fluid. It’ll surely go away.
