Hi guys. I have a cultus 2011 VXR clocked around 200k kms. I recently changed tyres with 175-70-13 in place of original 155-80-13 size. The steering of the car was originally very hard and after change of tyres it become very difficult to maneuver. To overcome this issue I installed used EPS system from suzuki Wagon R which resolves the issue of hard steering and now the steering is butter smooth. But now i am facing another issue while driving that the steering is not correcting itself straight while driving whether i move it a mm, a inch or turn completely it remained where we left. This steering behavior made the car very difficult to drive specially at high speed. Even at slow speed the driver has to correct steering to keep the car straight. This behavior was not present before installation of EPS.
Now i am not able to understand whether it is EPS issue or wheel alignment issue. The EPS installer checked the system and does not find any discrepancy in its installation, the wheel alignment was also checked at two different workshops and as per their statement alignment is ok. The camber readings on both alignment center were under 1 degree which as per their statement is acceptable and under tolerance range.
Overall suspension condition is fine, control arm bushes are new, shock absorbers are also in good condition, coil springs are original factory install and without spacers. Visually the car seems balanced.
Need advice from experts what could be the reason of such steering behavior.

Looks like a botched eps job. Is there speed sensor kit also installed with EPS steering? This kit hardens the steering on high speed so you don't lose the grip of the car.

My Cultus has clocked around 125k on the odo. (should i still change the oil to 10w40 from 20w50??) So what maintenance work do i need to have done. I have done the timing belt thing so far and head gasket has been replaced. These are some things that i have on my list. Do let me know if i need to add to it.

Location is karachi. No additional hardware was installed for speed sensor, however it was in my mind and i asked the installer regarding speed sensor input to EPS. He soldered a wire from EPS to car meter panel and as per his statement it is the speed input to EPS for hardening of steering above 60km/h. May be he was bluffing as i dont feel any hardness in steering at any speed. Does cultus 2011 efi has electronic speed sensor or mechanical cable input to meter panel.

Supposedly there is a separate kit for speed sensing but to have a second option you can call him.

In case of selling bank leased car, is there any fees to be paid by seller for the removal of "HPA" part from the documents? Or all of this comes under name transfer and should be paid by the buyer?

I have the bank letter, and buyer says removal charges of HPA should be paid by us.

Does the bank letter need to have a date?

Please advise how to proceed

You would have to pay the first transfer fee because the car will be transferred to the name of the person who financed it from the bank before being transferred to name of new buyer, which is considered a double transfer.

It is responsibility of the previous owner to remove the HPA tag as soon as leasing finished.

If installments were finished then it was previous owner responsibility to contact his bank for concerned papers and remove HPA tag.

If he was not doing, he was driving it illegally.

For now it was your mistake not to clear this thing before buying. Now he is taking benefit of it. Car will be transferred to previous owner with fresh date bank letter and then it will be transferred to your name

The most peculiar thing happened recently. On our drive to bahria town, i noticed the car required significantly higher revs to get to a desired speed. Before at around 2.5 rpm in fifth gear the gear would be at a 100kmph. Whereas this time the rpm was 3100 and speed was struggling to touch 100. And at 3000 rpm in fifth gear the car was doing around 90 At 2.5 rpm in fifth gear the speed was around 90. My mom drove the car after sometime and she said the car was driving like absolute crap in comparison to how it drove before. (the cultus was her daily driver for around 3-4 years). She said the clutch felt too soft and as did the brakes but the it felt like there was no pickup whatsoever and it felt like someone was strangling the vehicle. In bahria town, when descending from Ali flyover, there is a huge descent, while going down that the car hit 120 but the rpm was around 3500-4000. Ever so recently the car is taking far too long to warm up, and when we use ac the temp needle goes up to the midpoint and stays there after the car and ac have been running for a while. Even at speed, when i pushed down the accelerator to accelerate, the pedal would go down , but there seemed to be no significant change, as if the car forgot the accelerator was pressed. I calculated the average for this trip, and unfortunately, with ac the car averaged around 8.6 kmpl. PLease help, i need to get the carb serviced, and i don't know who to go to other than my ex mechanic. (also should i get the auto-choke fixed?)

I reached out to several dealerships, for a thermostat. I was told that i would not be able to get a genuine thermostat from them, and i can get local ones from the local market, but installing a thermostat isn't worth it, and in fact if i have one fitted, i should probably just get that removed. I was told by a dealership in BTK that i could get on if i ordered and it would arrive in 3-4 days, and that they would need advance payment, and total cost would be around 4k.

Edit: What local brand can i find in the market that is worth it/ of good quality and comparable to a genuine part.

What? Yes, Pak Suzuki doesn't have jack in stock, but the claim and price are both BS.

A thermostat is essential to maintaining the correct engine operating temperature, and using coolant is just as critical. Each component of your cooling system is there for a reason. This includes the humble radiator cap.

We Pakistanis are a scientific lot, with carefully thought-out explanations for why we use jugs of water from the Arabian ocean in our radiators, run our engines on packaged sludge (20W-50), remove our thermostats, and have the cooling fan running at all times, but we don't engineer a single motor vehicle suitable for export. I wonder why that is.

A brand new thermostat for your vehicle costs <Rs. 2500 and you can definitely find it. Just have to do some hunting. TAMA is one manufacturer for some quality aftermarket thermostats.

If you have the G10B 1000cc engine in your Cultus, the TAMA part number is W44DX-82 or W44DX-88. The last two digits indicate the thermostat's "beginning to open" temperature in degrees Celsius. You will need the right paper gasket to seal the thermostat housing once you put it back together.

If you don't already have a thermostat, use the opportunity to flush your cooling system and pour in the right amount and concentration of coolant when you install it.

I have a carb engine, so i believe that is G10A if I'm not wrong, what would the tama part number be for that. Does the paper gasket come with the thermostat valve or do i need to purchase that separately? I go to a radiator service guy on a bufferzone chowrangi, (where there are cycles sold at one side, mufflers and silencers on the other side and radiator guys on the opposite side). I have been satisfied by their work before, so should i have them fill the coolant and fit the thermostat? Is it a complicated process that needs to be done very meticulously?

So right on paper gasket. Got mine replaced and Pak Suzuki dealership was missing this component. Used only silicone and now I think It has moisture.... Leakage?

Be very careful while flushing the coolant system. My car is 23 years old and I was advised against it or face minute leakage from the system. So I deferred for post Eid.
