Suzuki FX / Hatch F8B 1985 Problems and Solutions

I recently bought a Suzuki FX and its giving me worst fuel mileage. Its doing only 4KM / Litter.
It starts on first self and don't have black smoke but a blue smoke keeps shooting in low quantity.

I tested the mileage by attaching the 1.5 Litters bottle with return line also.
This bottle was almost full and after a 4km drive, you can see what is remaining.

I dont know where the fuel is going.

Second problem is that if i pull the handbreak up. it comes up only 3 clicks but the car wont stop, if i push the car it still moves.

p.s blue smoke means weak engine...with this consumption it should give blackish smoke

for handbrake ask mechanic to check cables from handbrak to drum
i recall in my fx handrake lever use to keep coming up and mechanic had to manually adjust it

To eliminate the doubt of leaked lines or tank, i installed the bottle. Fuel pump is mechanical and is working fine.

Usually i tend to void mechanics and do all the work by myself

1- Here is the image of sparkplugs

2- What is the purpose of this device attached with carburetor and the green pipe ?

3- This pipe is coming from cng kit which i got pre-installed. I have no use of cng should i remove the pipe and block that carb opening somehow ?

1) engine weak and runnin rich
2) as far as i know it controls vacuum
3) remove and block. also retard car timing on petrol only setting

That no.2 pic is the secondary throttle opener, if it remains shut and you keep accelerating the engine, it will drink fuel.

You have bought a project, its best to start learning how to tune and troubleshoot a carby.

Its a looooooooooooong learning curve!

Looks like it has been running on cng and you started with petrol. What kind of smoke does the car emit at startup and afterwards?

The spark plugs are oily with carbon: engines not healthy.

Your carburetor needs full service, make sure all the jets are factory, else you need to find them (nowadays scarce). If the butterfly is worned out, that needs to be re-worked by lathes. Its not a DIY job.

Ah. I was getting my hands dirty again and saw that green vacuum pipe is so lose that it wont provide any negative pressure.

I looked into carb and second throttle opener was so dirty. Looks like it had no working since couple of years.

Not sure if it was running on cng before bec no cng available in rwp/isl.

Yeh that butterfly cant be done at home.

Smokes only blue and keeps it even after 30 min ride. You have to focus on tail pipe to see bec its not much.

No black smoke from tail.

Ok i was inspecting the carb, haven't removed it yet tough.

1- I saw that from distributor vacuum no pipe is attached to carb but that is just the smaller part of problem.

2- The mixture screw on front side off the carb is fully closed. Looks like the previous owner failed to delt with high fuel consumption issue. [ Pic below ]

3- Whenever i pull the accelerator cable, the carb squirts fuel in. Even if the cable is pulled halfway and i pull it further, carb still squirt again. Is it supposed to do that everytime we push race paddle ?

Yes, it will squirt fuel as thats the job of the accelerator pump, it provides the sudden richness required to prevent “flatfacing” the engine on opening throttle.

You need to find a handy vacuum pump to test the vacuum pod that activates the secondary throttle.

And get rid of that cng nozzle, infact find a different carby as its already drilled and damaged.

Adjusted the tappets today, 2 had less clearence.
Got fever and couldn't do carb work today. I guess tomorrow i will work on it.

In below pic i think thats electronic device to cut fuel supply when cng is on. I have removed it from system.

I bought this car from pakwheels add. Just went to the owner and made a quick deal.

Buy new vacuum pipes, install them correctly.

Remove carby hat and thoroughly clean it and all its tiny tiny air passages (dont use steel wire but only use carby cleaner)

Install thermostat valve on engine, you will never be able to adjust the fuelling on a cold engine.

Cleaned carb, installed new jet of 92.5 number.
Vacume and high speed butterfly is faulty. It will be done from shop
Now average is 10km / litter.

Last time i dove it the break paddle was tight and with slight pressure car was stopping with jerk.

Today i had to push it to the floor and still it was stopping slowly. Gear oil in bottle was almost finished so i top it up but no results, plz suggest.

yeh the small gear oil bottle on left hand side that is under the hood. Dont know what happened to break !

Thats brake oil for servo!

Seems like you need to repair the servo...
