Swapping 5A-FE in charade 86

The original CB23 is a very very good and long life engine, once correctly mic'd and assembled like "THE FACTORY SAID IT SHOULD" the engine will last you and your children's life too.

The biggest killer for this engine is running it cold all the time, with the oil cap PCV pipe blocked off, this disintegrates the oil badly. Other bits like not having proper upkeep etc does the rest of empyting your pocket.

In my experience I found them very very robust - almost wear like an iron anvil like Nissan engines do, When working on them and the subaru E - The subaru is top notch in quality and workmanship - the daihatsu/toyota CB is next, all the rest then follow.

Sir thats the problem here no one knows how to set them at factory specs....when i tell the mechanics to adjust the valve clearance when temperature is nominal(needle at half in the gauge) their responce is itnay gram ko to hath he nahi lagta thanda ho jaay phr kartay hain....

mine was on fan auto setting...

to stuff this engine you will have the "axle spider joints welded to the shaft after shaving off the milling - which means that the shaft hardening is not present anymore and it also means that a simple job of axle boot replacement will also require grinding and rewelding.

The entire frame will spread out due to the weight - this can be seen by an optical alignment machine too. Major reinforcement like bracing is required to tighten it back up on the horizontal plane.

sir their are two types of axels making process here..1st is simple cut to appropriate length and weld... 2nd is weld less procedure..i dont know how they will do it but he assured me there will be no welding...and jo marzi ho jaay tootay ga nahi...

to avoid frame from spreading we will be using 2 struts bars...one one the upper side and one under the car...

sir plz tell me best oil for this engine and exhaust piping diameter for this engine...

what i know is mostly pcv valve in every engine is in the tappet cover..near the pipe that goes to the intake....

yes i know that most cars have it on the rocker cover but cant seem to find it on my Corona's engine

okay there are two pipes on top of the rocker cover going into the intake manifold so the bigger one is PCV valve (has a plastic thingie)
so i pulled it out and its seemed pretty clean
i'll post some pics soon

Headers will be your next upgrade, my advise is go to silencer wala and ask him to make a farma of wire for ur catback and then take this farma to some heavy buses or truck silencer wala and tkae good quality 16 guage pipe of 2.5 inch dia and that guy to bend pipe acording to farma.. i hope u got it. install any 190LPH fuel pump. Headers will be your next upgrade.

sir, dont forget to upgrade the brakes! as i told u face to face too, u giving the car the power it wasnt built for so it needs a bit advanced braking system to stop it when u need to. i dont knw much bt experts like xulifqar etc vl give better suggestion for tht.

and this one is 100hp+
economy i think it will be 19-20 difference...rest users of these engines know better

I am the rest user of this engine. Used it in 88 Corolla and now days using 7AFE in Corolla. 4EFTE in another corolla and 4AFE in a 88 Charade and also had 4EFE in a charade.. Also had a 86 Charade with original CB 23..

Anyhow gud Luck. I hope G11 can handle this engine.. A lot of cuts and welds and tries to fit an engine that is just little too big for this engine bay.

Why On Earth Would He Need 2.5" Down pipe For Engine Like 5AFE...?? He Will Loss Almost All His Low End Torque He Might Need....!!
He Need No More Than 40mm-45mm Maxxx Down pipe...! No Need Of Headers Either.....The Standard Manifold Is Enough Of His NEEDs...

Regarding Fuel Pump So ANY OEM Corolla Standard Pump Will WORK.....No Need Of Specific LPH Fuel Pump....!
