Proposed Plan

Friday: Departure from Islamabad Afternoon - Night stay at Mingora

[I]Saturday: Departure for Kalam and Mahodand and back

Sunday: Kalam to Mingora and to pindi.[/I]

Can you answer these questions:

[U][I]On public transport : Mingora to Kalam time??

Kalam to Mahodand? PT Available or hired jeep? if yes then cost of hired jeep?

Can we do in one day. Mingora to Kalam and Mahodand and back to Kalam? or Kalam to Mahodand and back to mingora and pindi?

Kalam to Mahodand time taken?

Mingora to pindi evening/night ma transport milti ha??

Guide in this matter. I am free after juma prayer and due in office on Monday morning. The target is only Mahodand.

Please help in this regard.

I am leaving for Swat tomorrow night with wife and 3.25 years old daughter (i.e. June 26, 2012 by Daewoo) and will be in Mingora at morning at 09:45 AM. All by PT, Rough plan is as under:

June 26 : Left by Daewoo at 0015 hrs
June 27 : Reach Mingora at 0945 hrs and transfer to White Palace (Remaining day for Margazar and Mingora)
June 28 : Check-out from White Palace and go to MalamJabba (Day at the place)
June 28 : Either check-in in hotel at MalamJabba (FalakSher Hotel) or leave for Kalam for O/N Stay (Green Hotel)
June 29 : Full day for Kalam visit including Ushu, Glacier, Dhamak Lake, Mahudand Lake, etc), O/N Stay (Green Hotel)
June 30 : Visit Kalam and later leave for Mingora (have to catch Daewoo leaving at 2045 hrs for Lahore)
July 01 : Reach Lahore at 0615 hrs

Hope to follow the plan and don't miss anything, but expert advise is needed if something is missing or on any reservations please.

1) i went straight to Kalam and stayed for 5 days.
2) Weather is very pleasant -- Kids will need sweaters after sunset.
3) hotel rates very economical , you can get a good room for 1000-1500 in Kalam bazar ( same quality room in Naran will cost 3000-3500)

5 hours from Mingora to Kalam.

Yes PT available, there are no more jeeps in swat valley now ; you will see Toyota hilux/surf etc., - cost of surf/hilux is 3000-3500. 2 hours from Kalam to Mahudand.

yaar i did Swat tour in same time but departed from Lahore early morning on Friday. Had a 3 hour break at Mingora and then stayed at Malam Jabba.

Next day departed from Malam Jabba at 4 a.m. for Kalam. Visited Mahudand and then back to Bahrain for dinner and then onwards to Malam Jabba. Night stay.

Sunday morning started the return leg.

Now the problem is very bad road conditions between Bahrain and Kalam which may significantly impact the travel time.

It took us 4:45 hours from Malam Jabba to Kalam and further 3 hours to Mahudand Lake. Now the travel time from Mingora to Kalam may be around 5 hours.

For Kalam to Mahudand Lake, jeep can be shared or per person basis. Do not sit in open "dalaas" as the whole way to Mahudand is very dusty if it doesn't rain for some time.

I was travelling on hired coaster so no idea for other rents.

I have just returned from Swat (yesterday morning). Its totally safe for family visit (I did the same) from Mingora till Kalam and onwards (I had gone till Mahudand Lake). There is no problem except that you have to cross a lot of army check posts, so original CNIC of all the members should be available and be patient while going to Kalam (as road is not in very good condition and travel time of 3 ~ 4 hours stretched to 6 ~ 7 hours. Also, no problem for On-Season traveling and accomodation. All is still reasonable as compare to other areas.

aoa, i am planning to visit swat right after eid with friends. According to my knowledge beauty of swats starts from kalam onwards ( likewise from kel onwards in kashmir ) ... so from kalam onwards, what should be my plan?
