These are available in islamabad. .225 AH 6 Volt cell for 21k and for 12 volt system we need 2 ?21= 42k.

But too expensive.
If one can afford initial investment than this is best
If you do the math...

42000 @life expectancy 7yrs. (trojan)
6000Rs/yr.

17000 @ life of 2 yrs max . (local)
Rs 8500/yr.

So trojan is best..
I found this battery can work for 10yrs if maintained well n used with care.

Dear OfGrid system should be design well.
Warna har battery ka kabara hojaega..

Never go beyond 50% soc.
Always top up distilled water.
Monthly equalization for one 1hr

So you want to use a second ups just as a charger? I guess you can if the other ups is out 24v.

What do you guys do in cloudy days to Charge the batteries as Solar power isn't sufficient?
Like the weather in Karachi, it's been cloudy since a week.
PS. Asking from people who don't have any electricity connection! :S

Those who have off grid setups have very big solar setup.. Small systems are usually on grid or hybrid. Off grid systems have many many kilowatts of solar available and big batteries which provide power at night and charge at day.. So, low ppwer doesn't effect much although I'm not saying it doesn't but its sufficient for batteries to charge maybe not to the maximum point. You can also ue generator as a backup option.

U cannot do anything in off grid system but you can charge either with utility in on grid mode

A BIG NO !!!!!!! ... u cannot charge batteries with two chargers ........ i also did the same stupidity once and ended up frying one of my ups ... i am dealin in apc for so long so thats why i ll ask u not to do the same orelse u have to kiss one of ur ups bye boy ...

I have homage ups 1kva 900w with 200 A acid exide battery,
The battery back is great because i am only using one fan and two led philips bulbs 14w and fan is also low voltage fan that consumes 50w.
So on this setup i am getting a backup of 8-10 hours continuously.

Experts i want a solar setup that can charge my battery because i want at day time i cut off wapda and batteries will be charged on solar.

Day time fan and lights are on ups that is connected to battery that is charged by solar and at night I switch wapda on so batteries now charge at wapda and fans and lights on wapda

Please quote the price of this setup and what alterations needed

Like today, there was partial sun, but batteries were fully charged. We don't face any problems in this kind of weather, only when there are serious dark clouds, we need some other source like a generator.
So today at around 2 PM, there was tad bit of sun, we were getting around 3.4KW and batteries were fully charged.
And Huzaifa, I need some help. As I said, we use generator for 2 hours to charge the batteries when batteries are low, but the thing is it provides power to batteries but as well as to the load.
Is there any setting in which it only charges the battery and doesn't gives load to the household as sometimes load goes upto 3.3KW and generator's circuit breaker trips.
BTW pics are of today 2 PM.

Buy 400Watts (200 + 200) 2 solar panels and 20A MPPT charge controller. No alteration required in UPS. Just connect the Charge controller to battery. Its cost you around 45,000 to 50,000.

Sharing my system after almost an year! :S
Any ways, originally we had installed 40 121W Sharp panels and 24*2V dry cells and an Inverex 5KVA inverter.
Now we've installed 4 more AGS 200A Acid batteries for better backup.
Plus 20 more panels are being installed of which up till only 10 panels have been installed in 2 months! :X

The other 20 panels of which only 10 are installed. They were working perfectly at first and were giving around 22 amperes(Only 10 panels) that too in partial sunlight but from the 2nd day, charge controller started giving error and they stopped working, hopefully will get the other charger today.

What kind of panels are these (thin-film ?) and how much they cost.

did you do what I said? It will resolve your problem but are you using additional panels just to charge the batteries?
