Few days before, we were in search of a UPS with pure sinewave output and have a reasonable price tag
So found this EcoStar, the good thing is that its power factor is 0.8, means a 1000VA UPS can provide upto 800 Watt output

i'm using systek ups, sometimes it behaves abnormally. While on charging, starts giving irregular beep then prolongs and beep becomes continuous. Its annoying too much. When light is off, its working ok.

I have two Aurora UPS in my home. One is a 1 KVA while the other one is a 1.4 KVA, both are Pure Sine Wave models. The slow charging is an issue these days, but it is manageable if you have at least 2-3 hours of electricity after 1 hour of loadshedding. I checked with an ampere meter and the maximum charging amps it delivers is 10, I think it should be at least 15AMP considering the loadshedding these days.

On the positive side, slower charging is better for long life of battery and both are very reliable machines and never gave any problem.

they are asking 325000rs for 1000 watt system. with 10 years panel warranty.

The answer to your questions are as follows;

1. Regarding availability of Solar panels, I am not sure but you should check from Hall road or Brandreth road, many people have imported/ smuggled Solar Panels because of the energy crisis. You can also opt for chinese brands (Yingli, Trina are two of china's well known brands) they will be a cheaper option.

2. PWM charge controllers are not efficient but are cheap, MPPT controllers are expensive but efficient. In addition to the charge controller you will also need an Inverter. I am not sure of the availability in Pakistan but in international market you can easily get an inverter and charger combined system. If you can afford it the best option is Off Grid Pure sinewave inverter and an MPPT charge controller (preferably not chinese because this system is the core of your solar system).

3. For solar systems a different type of battery known as deep cycle battery is used. However I doubt that you would be able to get them in Pakistan. Regarding your question of battery sizing it would require roughly a 1400Ah battery bank (or 7 x 200Ah batteries connected in series), if you are using maintenance free batteries.

4. Regarding the last question, I am assuming that you need a system that provides 1kW for 19 hours (12 hours day + 7 hours night), for that you would need approximately 6.5kW solar system. And the cost for an off grid system is around 300,000/kW as quoted by Nizam Energy.

Now before you freak out, I would suggest you ask an expert (Nizam Energy should have trained experts) to come to your house and assess your usage and requirements. I have taken liberal margin of errors in my calculations, I am sure that the cost would come down significantly (might even come in your range).

One last thing, please do make sure that the one providing you the system does proper calculations to back his claim of 7 or 10 hours backup. Solar panels are designed to provide their rated power at very specific environmental conditions (which are near to impossible to find in real life), don't be fooled by the rating.

110rs per watt is the rate for chinese solar panels. you can get it in less than that if you go to Hall road yourself. plenty vailable there.
i have checked the market myself too.
one option is solar system with ups.
another option is direct use without ups.
another company quoted the system with a router.

for a 1000w usage, you need minimum 5kv setup and a good 5kv setup will cost you 4-6lac rs. the price difference will depend upon the quality of panel, batteries, installation place and your decision of inverter.

the chinese inverters are not recommended by some people coz if something happens to them, they cannot be repaired in most of the cases.

i recommend using an APC ups.

a known family friend is runing his house hold on direct solar set up. incredible thing is, he has converted his 220w set up tp 12v. all fans, lights in his house are 12v. he has made the lights himself too. only uses inverter for computer and washing machine.

i have visited his place and checked everything myself.

I have installed a 3000 watts Solar system at my home. Its totally a DIY as I am electrical engineer. I am using Sharp Thin film japan made PV, Voltronics Infini 3KW Hybrid Inverter with grid tie feature and normal acid batteries 200A Exide. Nizam Solar is good but their response over queries and technical support is not up to the mark. Its better to do DIY and I will help you on each and every step for free Cost for Solar panels (170 rs per watt) 2420 Watts = 411,400 Rs..... Inverter 135,000 for 3KW and 4 Acid batteries 300A are for 60,000 (15,000 Each) or Sealed for 54,000 each. Other expense for wires, Solar panel and battery bank stand etc. One more thing which need to get notice that in extreme temperature like 40 degree Celsius Chinese panels loose their efficiency. Thin film is new technology and Sharp is offering 25 years warranty for 80% efficiency. Also thin film can work -40 degree Celsius to +90. And second option which is highly recommended is use as Hybrid solution. Just install a 2000 Watts system with 200A batteries and 2KW inverter. When ever you have lack of power from Solar or batteries you inverter will manage power from Grid.

Can you please share the savings on your average monthly electricity bill and how much relief from loadshedding. In your case what is the payback cycle of the set up.
