Okay in the late 80's and till 1995, the e class followed the W124 body type. The 300E in 1988 had a 3.0L Inline 6 giving 177hp (storm bhai once said mercedes gave figures that were lower than what their cars actually produced...) this was changed to the 3.2L Inline 6 in the 300E after 1992 as much as i've been told since we had a 1993 300E 4matic and that was a 3.2L
The 1988 300E would cost $39,000. AMG would hook you up with a 5.5L V8 producing 360hp in europe (yet again, it'd be more than claimed) and this would be done for an extra $17,000!!
BUT
If you were nigel mansel looking for an extra 0.5L in your respectable saloon, you'd pop out in total $160,000 for the 300E 6.0L V8- The AMG Hammer
