OK, I'll be honest, I'm with you on C63 but calling Hammer a clunker.

Bilal, Did you know, it was W201 to be named Hammer (infamous baby hammer based on W201) 'officialy' before they used the same for W124? And before this, 560 SEC was called 'Hammer' by auto journalist and drivers during a 0-150-0 test with Countach, 288 GTO etc.

Guy's...I was just kidding when I called the Hammer a clunker :D. There's no doubt that it's an incredible car. How about a Zonda F spec motor in a widebody 560 SEC...now that would be incredible.

Couple of forums online called it the Hammer because of the sheer hammering AMG had to do to get the engine inside a 200E!
BTW which W201 did they call the Hammer?

I always was confused about the whole hammer thing. The 560SEC Widebody is also referred to as the hammer, as is the 300E, 300CE, and the 300TE, and apparently now a W201 is as well!

I think most people use the term hammer synonymously with the W124. At least that's what I've seen.

How about M120 out of a C11 with true 6 speed manual gear box? TT 5.0L V8 producing 950hp. 190 bhp/liter!!!

I prefer natural aspiration to forced induction. Also, i'd sacrifice a few hundred horsepower in the name of absolute throttle response and a killer soundtrack.

As far as the car goes, i love all old mercs, but there is just something about the w126 that makes it "THE ONE" and after that comes the 190e (w123 i guess)

I had a question for you. The M119 has been used in a lot of cars as much as i've seen. For the W124, the M119 was in the 400E, and the 500E. And for AMG, it was in the E60 AMG and did brabus use it in the 6.5, or was that a new engine altogether?

Anyway the question is that is the M119 the code for the basic engine block? Because it's used in different cars and in different displacement figures. And also, does AMG always use Mercedes Benz's engine blocks, or did they ever make their own? (After the 300SEL 6.3)

as honda has many variations on the B16, MB has many variations of its engines. in the case of the M119 it is a basic block but the 3 digits that come after the M119 code are what sets it apart. the max displacement (for reliability and power) for the M119 was 5.9L, after that the walls get too thin and there is a high risk of overheating etc.. the M119 was one of the "great" engines from MB.

the M180 is probably the most mental (in terms of size and application), but most "forgetable"... even though it is in one HELL of a supercar!

Is that the 560?

indeed it was, but it was 6.0L and came in 2 body styles, "normal" and "widebody".

Wow. I need to brush up on the history of proper old-school AMG's!

I found the dyno readout from AMG for the 300E 6.0 AMG. You don't need to know German to read this!
