Thats just the custom duty. In reality the sum of all other taxes is closer to 70-80%

Electric cars are heavy, as with current technology, batteries have a LOT of weight in particular.

Good range and is a good car for 3 year ownership.

@Xulfiqar is there any electric car suitable for long term ownership? How are EVs by conventional car manufacturers? Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Audi compared to Tesla? They have more conventional arrangement of having the motors under the hood, but then they take more fluids and maintenance (e.g. Nissan Leaf has reduction gear oil which needs to be kept an eye on and replace if it turns dark), some EVs have break oils too. Does this make them better for longer, 10-15 yrs of ownership?

most production EVs have a reduction drive system to make it usable and also a differential so it can actually turn. All EVs will have a glycol motive hydraulic brake system too - Its mandated by almost all countries where such laws exist.

e.g. all Tesla require reduction drive oil change, brake fluid flush and also coolant change - yes it has Glysantin G48 coolant.

Teslas are good if you can live with its annoying ownership experience of repairing only at Tesla garages.

Meaning in repairs it will cost more than some mercedes s class down the road.

Be sure to have a backup car in case of disaster type situation where public electricity is cut for days.

And that's practically impossible because the state of pakistan lacks the werewithal to build even the most rudimentary infrastructure,let alone a complex series of electric grids that will cater to thousands of EVs. So the Audi etron is just another "pajaro" for anyone who doesn't want to pay for the ICE audi vehicle that is it's counterpart.

I guess EVs will not come close to ICE in utility until filling them is as convenient as filling fuel, i.e. stop at a pump, and in 2-3 minutes the tank/batterys are full, and buy an extra can and fill it with fuel to carry around if needed. Research in this direction is going on, and I remember reading some leaps made with the objective of fully charging an EV in under 3 minutes, not sure if/when this'll start reaching EVs on the roads.

Until then, I like the idea of range-extender engines in EVs, the car doesn't get out of operation if there is no electricity or no time to charge. It has some limitations, but at this time and state of technology, the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

what @zarakdurrani606 wrote is not about the freedom of travel on ICE but the missing core infrastructure to support EVs in Pakistan, Unless your idea of an EV is to keep a small genny as cargo all the time.
