Going through the thread, I am surprised that many of us are victims to the atrocities of the sindh highway daku police.

Reading the experiences of all of you people has given me encouragement. I have drawn to a conclusion.

I mean why should I be scared, I am not doing anything wrong, I am a law abiding citizen and Allah is my protector.

@op frankly speaking i love road trips and have successfully done many without facing any problems but sadly all of it took place abroad, for quite some time i also wannit to do a rd trip in my homeland but it becomes really disturbing to know the obstacles being created even for a law abiding citizen in his home country and that too by the authorities who are supposed to help us, not that i dont know of the prevailing situations in pk but this just keeps getting bad:(
now going through this thread i found many typical ways to deal with these dirty cops, but then just when you thought i got smart enough to deal with em, they surprise you with new ways to loot you! however that wont stop me from hitting the roads who knows i might never face them or even if i do it doesn't turn that bad;). God bless this nation with a better future!

Yes ! They try their best to mint money from you.
Travelled in Feb and Sindh Police stopped me twice. They let me go first time few KM ahead of khi toll plaza without saying anything and second time near Hala they tried their best. There they were stopping all cars with family and were about 10-15 people. Some in uniform others in plain cloth.
Didn't give them anything and after 15 minutes of discussion they let me go. They were though adamant that I should pay them Rs. 600 for God knows what.
Keep everything in order and deal with them properly without fighting with them and one can escape without giving them any money. After all whatever we say the money we give is bribe. We should not be a part of this culture.

yai wakiya maray sath ho chuka haa when i was traveling from QUetta to Islamabad aur us time maray pass apni mehran car thi and i was with my family ......shikarpur k kareeb police type k kuch logo nai rooka ...... har cheez hamara pass orignal thi phir last mai bolta haan k ap ki car ka color blue haa aur papers mai Emint-blue q likha howa haa ......phir thori dair bad abi gari sai nikla aur bola k kya masala haa toh wo bolta haa k gari chori ki haa ap ki ....maray walid ko sakt ghusa ayaa aur raakh k 2 thapar maray uss ko .....us ko zaroor nani yaad aa gyi hoo gyi unn thapar sai ....baki jo uss k sath log thai wo police van start kr k baag gai .....
time ap logo k itna nhi launga buss jab ye police walaay choor rookain toh inn sai ghusaa mai baad karain
aur ap sai ik baat pouchni haa Highway book code kya haa ??????

Some friends and I went to Ranikot and Sehwan this Saturday. We were 12 people in 3 cars. We were stopped just outside of the Petaro toll plaza on the Indus Highway by these police walas. It was early morning, around 7:30 or roundabouts. The sahab was in plain clothes, the sipahis were in uniform but their shirts were tucked out. Clearly they had partied hard the night before as they were still tipsy from the drinks.

They searched our cars, checked all papers, asked for the driver's licenses and NICs. We came prepared so they started asking questions as why we were going to ranikot, etc etc. They wanted something to hold onto so that they could squeeze out some bribe out of us. They finally got tired and let us go after wasting around 20mins of our time. Some of us were sindhi speaking so maybe that's why they went easy on us.

highway robbery is so common on the highways in Sindh that its unbelievable...all this is happening under the noses of the people in power and ofcourse the sindh police high ups. Its probably a very long chain...the unfortunate thing is that this has been happening for such a long time now that they (the police) think it is right and instead to protect they need to harrass. After all its the law abiding citizens who ends up paying for chai/pani. The highway police needs major reforming and media should play its role in highlighting this issue.

Any media persons out there reading this thread?

why not, this is their rozi roti everyday

i travelled on 15th Nov and that day they stopped near Noriabad and as usual they started all hanky panky about NoC and Code Book and challan for Rs. 2500.. but i was stick on point that nothing is required as long as i am driving my car and have valid License.. after too much argument i was asked 'Sahab se baat karo' and then another argument started again with 'Sahab' and finally 'Sahab' said choro in sub ko.. subha subha ka time he kuch karcha pani to do.. and reluctantly i had to give Rs. 200 and magically everything was good to go all of a sudden!! my friend asked him 'or aagay kitni jaga karcha dena parayga' and he said dont worry 'ab koi nahi rokay ga' and we were never stopped anywhere and we entered into Punjab around 4pm.
